I average between 45-55mpg depending on the weather air con etc. I've had 430 miles out of a tank.
I'm always sceptical about the miles left in the tank reading on the trip computer and have only ever drivien 20 miles on the reserve.
How many miles does the reserve have? ( I never run out of diesel and have no intension of doing so

)

when the light comes on there are approximately 7 liters of fuel left in the tank. For my mileage this translates into 150km's, but I have done maximum 80 km's to be on the safe side

I filled my 1.9 TDI up with £37 worth of Shell Extra (the reserve light wasnt on and range showed 30 miles. Its done approx 60 miles on the motorway at constant 70-80mph and 15 miles in town.
The fuel needle hasn't moved from full. Should I be worried???

I can go at least 280 miles without the needle moving

seems like you have filled the expansion tank also. No need to worry, the needle will move when the fuel in the expansion tank is consumed.
