I recently lowered mine by just 40mm and the shocks are not up to the job of controlling the spring. It's stays flat around corners but doesn't handle bad roads at all well as it bounces of the spring without an upgraded shock. waiting for my shocks and springs to arrive so I can change the lot (ordered complete set because I want to go to -60 as -40 doesn't look low enough)
Also couldn't believe how high the comfort level stayed with the stiffer springs, I usually find the comfort is wrecked when changing springs but not on -40 on a Polo it isn't.
All depends on what you actually want to do with the car, if you are lowering it to make it handle better then definitely need shocks, if it is just to look better then maybe not.

i gave away my bmx to my mechanic! i loved my GT, biggest cycling mistake ever. Oh well. Anyhoo! Has anyone else found tat its better to just change the springs rather then the full shocks and stuff, as this is what my mates dad (the golf specialist) has found in his Mk2 golf. Im curious if the case is the same in polo's...
Chris,
