alexperkins wrote:that sounds sweet!. Have you any idea how to fit the bottom GTi grille - i havent a clue how to and i want to so it all looks nice with the top grille and fog grilles. My headlights are gonna be philips blue vision for all three bulbs- gonna look kick ass.
Alex
The lower grille is a pig to remove without breaking clips, but as you're replacing it, it shouldn't matter too much. I've never removed one myself, so can't give you too much advice on this one. Sounds like your Polo is going to look sweet when you're finished though. Keep us updated with pics.
One mod on my list I forgot to mention is to fit fog lights; wiring is in place; it's just when I have the spare dosh to buy the parts !

trust me, you non-gti owners have it very easy when you want to change the sidelights.
Look what I had to do to change mine on the gti:

By the way, to see about removing the centre grille, I would remove the front bumper and see what the fixings are inside. Removing the bumper really doesn't take that long and the how to is included as part of my post above.

Anyways, in other news, i have chosen (thanks to mk4 glx1.6) to upgrade my sidelights to some ultra bright xenon LEDs. They are so bright, they beat a 3500k xenon bulb for whiteness!!!
Its completely mad, but they are metal cased which means they arent gonna melt due to headlamp heat.
You can see how bright they are in marc's post

www.ultraleds.co.uk for the sidelights, maybe brake lights and boot and num plate.
and
www.powerbulbs.co.uk for the headlights. The headlights are H1 and H7 with the sidelights W5W or 501

Cor, its all about the updates today!
I have gone off the idea of Philips Blue Vision, as ive heard some bad things, and instead i'm going Osram Silverstars for dipped and full beam. Also gonna get Osram Diadems for the front indicators. As ive already mentioned, the ultra bright LEDs for the sidelights too.
This is gonna look so sweet when its finished!

Cheers matey.
Found the sidelight on ultraleds
Just looking at the H1 and H7 bulbs, dont know which ones to go for, theres either:
Power Bulbs Powerblue
Phillips Blue Vision
Osram Cool Blue
Looking ideally for the Xenon Blue tint look.
For the rears i guess something that will look bright, prolly Leds?

personally, osram cool blue are the best to go for - philips blue vision arent particularly amazing, and are a damn sight more expensive for some reason? ye LEDs for the brakes might work but philips vision plus would do a better job perhaps
