Ah righty ho. I'd rather get the 16v box for piece of mind that i have the right box and nothing will go wrong.

You're right about the 16v getting the power above about 4000rpm, which id like to keep if possible!

If worst comes to worst and i cant source a 16v box ill have to get an 8v one i guess..........

think you're making a good choice. you'll have the ratios designed to match the engine - and the 16v box should stand up to more abuse than the 8v box as it's designed for a higher output.

Cheers for the heads up on cleckheaton. Just ordered my box from them, correct 16v one aswell. Hopefully itll get delivered soon and i can get the b*stard fitted! really not liking not having my car!

Only problem was communication, a bad phone line mixed with southern and northern people trying to understand eachother! amount of times we had to repeat ourselves!! lol!

One thing that no one has mentioned is that the 8v gear box might give you a bit more mpg, and with petrol approaching a £1 a litre that might not be a bad thing! My 8v on the motorway could handle a 6th gear so god knows how thrashy a 16v box is! I thought the 16v boxes were tougher than the 8v? Is this just an urban myth?

More mpg would be nice, mines defintely not doing the factory 40mpg as stated on the parkers website, i reckon its more like 25-30 with my induction kit, exhaust and the way i drive it!

I hadnt heard that 16v boxes were tougher than 8v ones, but i suppose it would make sense if they were as you need to rag them to unleash all the power. Not much power comes until 4000rpm and it redlines at 7000, so u have to thrash it really! :D

Cleckheaton were really nice, really professional and got the box within 3 days of ordering it! when the guy rang me again he was on a land line and we understood each other just fine! lol!

The box will be fitted on wed/thurs and i whacking in a new clutch while im there, may aswell! I really do hate not having my car!!!
