Maybe your rear washer pipe has burst - i believe that runs pretty close to it

got back from the garage, found out both pumps have been killed by water. Thats interesting because the rear washer didn't work when i 1st had teh car, but thats been fixed.

DAM it my cars done exactly the same. the only way water would of caused my pump to die is cuz i cleaned all my inner archs out with ALOT of water and jet wash so i recon mines dead AGAIN. :'(

when i get my new pump im gonna seal the edges with gaffotappe, wrap it all in clingfim and seal it in a tuppaware tub. not even kidding.

lol - normally its a leaking rear light seal that makes them wet
if its allowed to dry out before being used then they normally recover OK
just seal all the joints in bodywork, carpet, inner panels and you should be ok - they do need ventilation tho
By the way if any1 is interested I have a spare MK4 (p reg) 6 pin central locking motor - if anyone interested check the pins on yours and pm me - hopefully i can be of some help lol
BTW VW finally fixed my car after 2 weeks of pure fustration. Cost me £308 tho

FFS! MY CENTRAL LOCKING HAS DIED AGAIN!! the endless bloody downpour of rain is going straight through the bloody lights and just soaking it! STUPID DESIGN! TWO PUMPS GONE IN AS MANY WEEKS!!!

hi guys, sorry to hear your all having the same problem as i had!!!
little tip get a plastic bag and rap the BUGGER! Use cable ties to seal it..... worked with mine.................dave

managed to get a new pump for mine as water had killed the old one. i took the pump and the big polystyrene thing it sits in from a scrapper and noticed that it had a drainage hole in the polystyrene on the new one. vw was obviously aware of the problem! ive now taken the extra precaution of completely sealing up the whole area so nothing can get in!!
