Opinions on eibach pro spacers 5 mm ??????

To be honest I haven't had any problems with the standard jack before. I always change the alloys on my cars and usually use the standard jack and a decent torque wrench to just whip the wheels off and change them over.

But my saga gets worse!
After several more attempts with the OE jack tonight as I hate to be beaten(!) I wheeled out the trolley jack. Carefully (so as not to upset Dino ) protcted the wax with a bit of shag pile and jacked the little GTI beastie into the air. Finished removing the bolts carefully so as not to scratch the wheels. Gave the wheel a gentle tug to remove it from the spigot.....and nothing....pulled a bit harder....and nothing. Chocked the trolley jack up even better so it wouldn't roll no matter what and gave the wheel a couple of almighty tugs......and nothing! Blimmin thing has welded itself to the hub! Some things are not meant to be. So my new second hand 17'' alloys are now redundant and I'm going to have to get used to the girly 16s on the car.
Car now lovingly tucked up into bed in the garage, still on original wheels.....

Same here, a lot of the German made stuff has to be TUV approved so if they weren't safe they wouldn't be sold.

Well having merely offered to help a fellow forum member with some measurements I seem to have ended up suffering the wrath of the uk-polos war committee!

So I'll say no more on the subject, other than the fact that the jack supplied with my car will not lift the car safely at the rear jacking point. I thank you.

I have encoutered your sticking wheel on the hub problem aswell. I found a dam could whacking with a heavy rubber mallet on the tyre all the way round usually does the trick.

I did think about a rubber mallett, but I don't own one unfortunately.
I didn't want to tug at the wheel too hard in case it fell off the jack with the luck I've been having
Will have to have another play with it when the weather get's better, I've just invested in a third set of wheels for it and I've only owned the thing less than three weeks!

yeah my rear wheels are a tighter fit on the hubs than the fronts and again need a wack at either side to losen them, but i use manly brute force defo not a mallet of any description, dont wanna go damaging my tires

When you do get your wheels off put a bit of copper grease on the hub to prevent them sticking next time you want to take them off.

Thanks, that's a good tip - funnily enough the set of alloys I WAS going to put on the car has already got a dab of grease on the spigot part so I'll guess the previous owner of the wheels had the same problem!

Strange how my Polo's wheel is so stuck on there after such a small mileage, when I went to jack it up in the first place there was already signs on both sides of the sill that someone had already tried jacking the car up as bits of wax and paint were already missing (and the only previous owner was Volkswagen UK!).

My original alloys had this problem too and took a bit of a wriggle to get off as did my mates 9n. Had no problems since using grease on them.
