I did read somewhere which also showed pics, that there are bulbs for lights with projectors and bulbs for them without.
The ones for lights without projectors have bits on the bulb to 'aim' the light.

Mine dont shine out the bottom of the bulb - the light comes from the top I beleive, but fills the whole reflector somehow.
I might be wrong but oh well!
There are reduced size ones available for cars with just normal projectors as the space behind them can be quite limited!

Yup the Hids4u ones have a shield around them to control the light which most don't have and it's well worth having. My favourite colour of hid is 4300k - the colour factory xenons are. 6000k is a bit bluer.
One thing I'd say is that with the price of Hid kits falling and seeing more of them on the road, I suppose it is only a matter of time before retrofit HIDs are illegal everywhere, just like what happened in America when they took off over there
Anyway if they don't cause anyone else on the road a problem with glare you're improving your safety at night a good bit. I might be imagining this, but since I got my xenons I've had a lot less people pulling out on me etc, they definitely attract attention

Agreed they definately make people notice you quicker, plus they practically remove the need for main beams!!

I defo recommend them! I'v gone for 8k and they have a slight white-blue tint to them, i thought they would be too blue, but they are more bright white with a tint to them.
The problems with the scattered beams is more commonly found on older cars like the mk4 due to them having frosted glass. That is what scatters them so much, but i really cant see why these would provide a different pattern! The reflector is what decides where the pattern goes! So in all fainresss if your standard lights were bright enough, they would also scatter! But aslong as you can adjust them to sit low enough as to not blind someone from a close distance you'll be safe!
And agree with you there alex.....main beams are a thing of the past now lol

Are the light projectors not the wee circular things you see in angel eyes? If so standard mk5's havent got them :S
Few more questions for ya see as you answered all of the above so quickly

Are they easy to fit? What tools do you need? Is everything supplied with most of the kits you get out there? E.g do I have to join wires etc or is it plug and play? What kit should I go for? Alex off the site has told me about "HIDs4u.co.uk" and the discount. Is that the best one to get for the money?
Phew....
Thanks again lads

I'm guessing you've had all your questions answered, but the light projectors are what the bulb sits in in the MK5, ie the light bulbs go into them like a sleeve lol, but that reflects the beam etc, where as on older cars these dont have them and make the beam go everywhere! ie in the auto express review, Seems that they want to make them out bad by doing it on a old car where they know it wont work!! as long as your beam patteren is within the paramaters and does not cause undue dazzle then they are perfectly legal, Why Wouldnt they be???
Look at all the high end motors that have them as standard fitted and how bright they are!
