that's interesting actually, is there any danger in connecting the breather hose directly to the elbow? the reason i ask is because that's what BMC has exactly done on their website...

Oh it must be OK then, perhaps the air pressure in that elbow takes care of the problem. Someone will know if this OK, I don't know much about this area tbh

the problem is that it spits oil out as i found out from my k&n 57i as the breathers went into the bottom of that and when i took it off it was saturated with oil!

My k&n was exactly the same bud, full of oil!! The k&n was crap.....ended up as an adivsory for my mot as an oil leak and the seal around the throttle body cracked! Peice of s**t and not a good idea!

it took me about 30 mins and thats including fabricating a metal bracket and trimming the silicone down to size!

for the gti you get everything with the kit that you need so shouldn't take long.

I bought my filter seperately so had to source all the bits i needed!

in short it should be pretty easy alun

did you get the gti kit from bmc with the 90 degree elbow and breather?

if you did all you need to do is take off the engine cover which i believe has the air filter in unplug the breather aswell! then just attach the 90 degree bend to the bmc and the throttle body with jubilee clips, then attach the bracket to the bmc and attach it to the engine somehow! and simply attach the cold air feed and breather easy!!

well i literally just got the filter second hand then had to piece together a kit:

filter
Silicon hoses from sfs
jubilee clips from my local car shop
cold air feed from my old k&n
metal bracket from focus
and breathers from ebay!

i think you will find it easy

the cold air feed is literally a jubilee clip and then put it somewhere to collect cold air!

Yeh you'll need one breather alun, i just got mine from halfords!

Its a peice of p*** to fit......but i didnt think the metal bracket was very good....a bit too flexible so i fitted a thicker one. And yeh the custom air feed is much better" The BMC air feed is gash!

yeah it was!!

Ive lost about a litre of oil through the front breather :S

had to fabricate a one way one last night to stop it happening - wasnt prepared to hack the original airbox to bit, so i snapped the valve out and put it into part of a sink overflow

haha it works a treat!!!

you'll be fine you will fit it and wonder why you didn do it sooner!!
