its to late now im using reflex silver. the colour dont match perfectly but its good enough for me for now. when i finished doing all the body work and im happy with it i was gonna get it booked into a body shop and get them to do the fine touches and then respray the whole car one colour.

got a slight dilemma, im currently in the middle of smoothing my car, the rear bump strips are done and today i did the rear door bump strips. wat i was thinking tho is wat u lot think about smoothing in the bumpers and all unused "gaps"

Image

the black lines are the bits i was talking about smoothing and the red lines were thinking about to, yes they are the gaps around the lights but obviousley not covering the boot. tell me wat u think........

also about colour coding my wing mirrors black as i have done to the b pillars. theyre standard mirrors tho. i thought about getting different mirrors but dunno where or wat ones to get.

and the other thing, when i decide wat rear lights i want, wat about getting them colour coded to the rest of the car to so from the back u cant see the lights clearly and the gaps are all gone.

Hmm, I wouldn't do it. I like the smoothed bumper look, but I think going completely smooth will cause the car to loose all definition and look *too* smooth. The thing I like most about the Mk5 Polo's looks are its sharp, straight lines.

However, black wing mirrors would look very cool. And I suggest looking at the Hella smoked LED lights, or even smoked Mk5 ones, like Bryony's; they both look very good'. Silver colour-coded ones would be going a bit too far.

Oh, apparently the vertical line by the lower part of the light is a right pig of a job to do apparently. Andy (vdubit) was telling me and Dan at Ed38 that they have to be welded otherwise they crack if filled (I'm sure I heard that).

^^^^ yeh i've heard that aswell

with the light issue, personally i'd go back to standard! i'm sure alot of people wil also agree you just can't beat them!! If your set on keeping them aftermarket then go with slightly smoked ones.

as it happens i do plan on getting different lights smoked ones but cant find n e n e where that will look good and a reasonable price and LEGAL IN THE UK

pointless filling the gap between the bumper and body... it will just end up cracking, and will make things a lot tougher and expensive when it comes to repairs.

was wondering, removing the bump strips but as its held on by rubber sticky stuff once i removed the strips i need to remove the sticky stuff with ease without removing the paint. any one know wat i can use?

If you mean the side strips, they have holes behind them.

heres wat im thinking. some of u might like it but most of u prob wont. ..... no im not gonna put a snow plough bumper onthe front either, however wat im thinking is now i got the side strips done im gonna do the front bumper strip. im thinking of moving the number plate onto the the splitter and also filling in the 2 lower side grills and keeping the middle lower grill.

firstly would it cause any problems getting these grills filled in?
secondly is there any law that says i cant have the number plate on the splitter?
thirdly if i can get it done wats the smallest i could get the number plate made to?

you can put the number plate on the splitter yes, dunno how small you can go tho.

in regard to smoothing out the foglight holes, it has been done before so its obv feasible, but keep in mind the screw for the tow bar is down there

I do believe the size is regulated and you're likely to get fined if you made it smaller.
