Wow!, the read stitching wheel looks a lot better. But I am curious, looking at the door handle, the fabric has red stitching on it. I wonder why VW doesn't just put in a wheel with red stitching.

The standard steering wheel has red stitching and perforated leather but is just a plain steering wheel and nothing special to hold. The Golf GTI item is sculptured and is a quality item. :D MateyGuv's old steering wheel is pictures in the for sale section to compare it to the new one.

Thanks for posting up the piccy MateyGuv, it looks perfect

My car has the leather interior so the stitching on the door cards and seats are all red - the steering wheel really sets it all off now. I know the origonal had red stiching anyway, but the new wheel just changes the feel of the interior somehow............... maybe its just me

No probs putting the pic on - thanks for the idea :D

..............So what else has you in mind Beezer LOL

Quite correct, when I bought mine I held up the two wheels together and they are more or less identical in overall diameter but the Golf one feels smaller as it has a chunky rim. The standard Polo steering wheel is identical to the mk5 Golf's and probably the Passat, Eos, Jetta, Touran etc etc, the only differences between models seems to be the type of leather covering.
The mk5 Golf GTI steering wheel is also found in various hot Audis with slightly different leather and airbag shapes and also under the nasty cover on the white W12 showcar as seen on TopGear and GTI International etc etc. Shame it wasn't fitted to the Polo GTI as standard, but then again most owners I've seen are female so obviously VW knew what they were doing and put a girly steering wheel in! :(
