Hi there,
My wife has just bought a 9n TDi Sport 100 that had the very same problem - it's most annoying!! The power loss problem is not the turbo but a diaphram somwhere in the turbo system. The car was bought from a dealer and was fixed under the warranty so I cannot give you an idea of how much this costs to have replaced or how difficult it is - there will no doubt be some techies out there with advice on that!

Good luck.

I don't think this is definitely a turbo problem. The problems described are as you say - going into limp mode, but a lot of things can cause the high boost or bad readings.

My car started going into limp mode at the same time I had low boost problems. The fix for the boost problem has solved the limp mode problem. The cause was a vacuum pipe to the turbo being burnt by the hot EGR pipe. VW choose a stupid route for this pipe. The hole in the pipe caused bad boosting and limp mode once a month.

I know yours is not the same, but definitely check ALL your vacuum hoses, and all your other intercooler and turbo pipes. might help you out!
