i use sainsburys diesel, car runs fine on it and its usually the cheapest in the area (plus i get nectar points ) but when i filled up on tuesday, the price was 104.9!!
thats a 3p increase on last week!

dan - thats the price of diesel at a service statoin on the way to work.

worryingly, i had a check around whilst out driving and noticed that saisburys was still the cheapest in the area

it's stupid prices isn't it.

i bet soon police will be checking diesels for that red diesel.
the way the prices are going it's the easy/cheap option.

Try this site guys, tells you the petrol prices in your area when you put your postcode in, its usually pretty accurate, for my area anyway.

Thats what i always try and check at least once a week. Glad i've just got 270 miles from half a tank, by the time my car needs filling it might have gone down again!

right the sainsburys near me has gone up again to 105.9 for diesel! what the f**k is going on!!!

BP Ultimate Diesel down here is 114.9p a litre

It seems to be a complicated situation at the moment. Oil prices could possibly reach $100 per barrel, and I've heard that OPEC are not willing to increase production. Rising fuel and food prices have pushed inflation to 2.1% as well, ahead of the gov's target of 2%.

I think we will be seeing fuel protests by hauliers over the next few weeks, in the form of "rolling road blocks" which probably are as good as 100,000 facebookers (?) joining groups against fuel prices (not much really). I'm sure there's a law now, which prohibits protests/blockages outside refineries and the like.

I've been considering a scooter or even riding the bike to work now, seems like a more cost-effective way to get to work.

Was driving to work from Southampton this morning, and in all the 100miles I drove there was one petrol station I thought was worth going in....

99.9 for Unleaded.

Meh, i do honestly think bike is the way forward!, mind you im not sure about the bike-weather combo.....!

with the increased fuel prices, i've decided to keep to driving carefully and keeping the revs down etc, its totally no fun but i seem to be reaping some rewards!

2 weeks ago i put £15 of diesel in the car @ 101.9 and drove normally ie- couple of good hard accelerating points to keep the car unclogged so to speak and i returned only 95 miles out of that £15 which is pretty bad and equates to around 30mpg!!
now this was all town work and lots of short trips and the inside had condensation on it most nights so it involved long blasts of the heaters etc. i may have even filled up too early, but it was still a week until i needed to put some in.

last week i put another £15 in this time at 104.9 and drove very carefully, hardly ever tking the revs over 2000 rpm (boring i know). i drove the thing to the limit of where i thought the fuel would run out and i got 141.8 miles meaning the mpg was around 45mpg. this though was a combined figure as i did have a trip with some faster roads (on which i averaged 60 mpg). that £15 again lasted me a week!

i do hope the prices drop soon, i don't like keeping the revs under 2000, it never gives the turbo much time to spin up at all
