No the 6 month amounts are always priced higher than the 12 month amounts to put you off going go for the 6 month option. In his case its £90.75.
If he'd paid the 12 month amount it would have been £165 because the GTI is in Band E.
For cars before March 2001 the tax is either £180 for 12 months or £99 for months.
This explains why the cars registered in January 2001 were still paying the £180 amount. God know however why somebody who registered a car in June 2001 is paying pre March 2001 costs. If I found this to be the case I'd be having a word with the DVLA. Alternatively I'm sure there an explanation.
