but i'm put of by them saying 'summer tyres'

does this mean that the Nankang NS-2 aren't as good when wet?

as i drive mostly on m'way and it's wet i don't wanna be having sliks on

I'd recommend the Kumho's at £50 a corner.

i had nankang ns2's on my tt comps and they were awful mate

really though in all seriousness, tyres are the single most important thing on your car, they connect and grip you with the floor, the only thing that does, get good ones, i hate budget stuff, is your life really worth "risking" for that bit extra and lets be honest, it is only a bit,

i would rather pay an extra 20 quid a corner or so over naff ones and know i am as safe in my car as i can possibly be, knowing if i have to make a drastic manouver or brake seriously hard, i can, you cant plan for what you will do in a drastic situation, but you can prepare for it

preperation is the key, if your going to fail to prepare, then prepare to die

i know its extreme, but i just dont do skimping, i value my life, the people around me and my car too much

i think i'll just go to a garage and they probs give me discount for buying 4 anyway.

i'm thinking there 5 x 112 not the 5 x 100 needed.

are there adaptors for this or it best for me to sell them?

you'd need spacers for et50. so you could easily get adaptors for them and they'd act as spacers too.

195/45/16 Avon ZW3s I have on my car were £36 a corner. They have shown very little tyre wear even with my aggressive driving.

what does the et exactly mean?

i took off one of my alloys today and put the new alloys on. it fitted except the holes for the bolts were out.

how much am i looking at roughly to buy the adaptors?

have a google on ET oand wheel offset.

basically it's how far away from the centreline of the wheel that the mounting point is.

so if you have ET0, the centre of the wheel is where the mount to the hub is.

ET50 is 50mm away, and it's measured towards the OUTSIDE of the wheel, so a higher ET means the mounting point is closer to the outside face of the alloy, and therefore the alloy will sit further into the wheelarch.

obviously where the outside of the wheel will eventually sit will also be dependent on the width of the wheel too. so you always need width and ET to figure out if things will rub.

if your wheels are ET50 and 6.5" wide then work it out like this:

6.5" / 2 = 3.25". this is where the centreline is.
+50mm (2") = 5.25"

so the alloy will stick out 1.25" further than the hub. (this sounds very small - are you sure it's ET50?)

anyway. you can get away with 7.5" and ET30 on a 9N

this equals about 5" for the mounting point, so you can have a wheel stick 2.5" further out than the hub.

because yours is 1.25" then you can have at least another 1.25" - say about 30-35mm.

so either get adaptors that are this width, or spacers

by the time i've payed for adaptors and tires i will have paid getting on to 600 for it all.

might as well just get some that have tires and stuff ready to go on.

sell them as they are - thats what i would do! Saves any extra expense

it's not complicated, just adding and subtracting - I wanted to show you how I worked out how much space you'd need.

I have 195/50-16 Toyo snow tires on my 6,5x16 OE VW Barcelona wheels. No stretch what so ever, but looks ok for the winter...
