I agree with the comments saying most of the big name re-mappers will give a good service and decent power gains to the GTI.
I see REVO mentioned as giving a lot of low down boost and lower peak power, but I know my local REVO dealer and when I mentioned this to him some time ago he told me it depends on how you want the re-map set up. Many people opt for having lower boost to reduce wheel spin and a smoother power curve which then often gives a bit better top end. You can also opt for 95 octane programs if you use the cheaper fuel (which can be switched anytime to a 98 program). If your local REVO agent can do this so can any reputable re-mapper. I have used UPsolute ( www.ccctech.co.uk) on quite a few of my turbo cars and again Simon from UPsolute can alter the program slightly to suit your and the car's needs. For example on my last car he reduced the turbo boost a little which cured the slight clutch slip I got with the full fat version and gave a very smooth power band.

A remap on the Polo 1.8T makes it the GTI it should be....
Lets be real here you go from 150bhp to almost 200bhp.. instantly..

I know on my own Polo that aggressive boost means wheelspin galore in the wet 1st 2nd 3rd... but in the dry that instant low down power is GREAT.
Its worth considering doing the downpipe, cat and exhaust first as the downpipe and cat just sap.. and then you will get even more from the remap.

Well I was down south last week and decided to kill 2 birds with one stone and popped in to Awsome to get the car remapped with the APR software.
What a weapon, hit the M6 northbound to get home to Edinburgh and never had so much fun for 2 1/2 hours in ages (dont tell the missus
).
Completely differant car and surprises a few higher powered motors.
Fitted the N75J valve now and like the smoother power delivery, but spent about £100 on fuel in the last week just going out in the evenings and seeing what scalps I can take.

Wouldn't have thought so, although it's advised not to gun it everywhere whilst it's still being run in. And make sure your cambelt has been replaced according to schedule...more so if you're going to get it mapped.sagaris wrote:Does the cars performance differ when getting it remapped at certain mileage?

Definately so, stick with OEM timing belts etc. Has anyone yet changed the plugs on theirs? I'm interested in learning what to change them for.

I went for the APR map in the end because its a proven map as many of us already have it, and I couldn't refuse the price I got it for a price including the DV.
I'd found the REVO map not as progressive, but I was told it can be altered to suit my requirements, that it would have meant a longer trip to REVO for me. The APR map has a nice mid oomph.
I do infact have graphs on a Dyno dynamics RR with the car running APR Stage 1 without the turbo back Milltek etc.

I recent has the Revvo Trial put onto my girlfriends gti. (Last for 5 hours of driving time and then reverts back to normal)
As mentioned low down power was fantastic. As the car pulled through the rev range, the power did tail off towards high revs. I didn't see this as a problem. I quick change in driving style solves it. You simply have to use the gear stick more often.
In my opinion, the low down power is more fun. Especially off the lights, you get your power quicker which is fun when dusting other "high power" cars.
What surprised me the most by the Revvo was the Fuel Consumption!!
The car normally averages 18-20mpg around town according to the dash computer ( I know this is not perfectly accurate, but gives a fair idea).
After the Revvo, the mpg never fell below 30mpg! Even when you booted it. Average was around 34mpg
Motorway cruising (around 80mph) clocked up 41mpg !! I was amazed!!
The improvement on MPG makes it worth buying it alone! The power and fun comes as a bonus!!
Made me wonder whether Revvo's software makes some adjustments to the way the dash computer monitors fuel economy?!?! Any have an opinion on this??
We are still sitting at 150hp as it stands - but my girlfriend loved the remap. Do APR do a trial remap? Where would be the nearest dealer to Sheffield?
