Good luck with this, I'm always amazed with what some people will take on in their own garages

A guy on my local forum is VR6ing a Caddy - maybe the pics might help? http://vagdrivers.net/forums/index.php? ... trap&st=40

Cheers m8, good project, it takes balls (and a load of cash/time/effort/skills) to pull something like this off, will be following this one! Good luck!

And just a tip, that forum with VR6íng a Caddy won't help you much, since the Caddy is build on the "bottomwork" of the Polo Saloon/Station (types 6K and 6KV), and not on the regular 6N bottom, just as an Ibiza is build on the 6K bottomwork, so you're bound to get into some trouble with getting in/on that Ibiza subframe etc.

so i got the tape out they mesured the same
and bought the subframe
unforchunatly i had a heavy weekend and the new mrs instead of the polo was on the mind so i didnt get round to sortin a tow truck out
i know its chriminal to put a woman before the car very sorry lol

you should be!!! lol.

Wont the golf box be to big?

I assume that golf gearboxes are bigger then polo ones. I know my mk3 golfs gearbox is double the size of what my polos gearbox is and there near enough the same year (N for golf, P for polo). If theres some way fo fitting it in id definately be interested to know as lets face it, the ol polo gearbox is made of chocolate and the golfs seem to me to be made of sterner stuff...[/url]

yer hopeing its going to fit it is bigger but the casing mounts are similar its a problem i will have to face when i get there
if its a problem i will have to look at adapting a 1.9 tdi polo box i think
but in PVW theres a guy who fitted a mk4 gti engine and box into his polo
so there must b some leaway in there somwere
thanks for realising that for me
started to make the idia of a 1k conversion bidget swet abit lol

i got my self down to the old motorworld and got my self some discount materials (i used to b the branch manager)
red oxid, kurust, hibuild primer, and 10 packs of 600 wet and dry
also ordered my hub kit for the sparco wheel i got but never go to fitting
and also got my new door handles (i say door handles i mean 2 slimline starter buttons) i will smooth the handles out and use these flush fit buttons on selanoids

SORRY THE PAINT IS NOT ANY OF THE ABOVE
ITS BEEN ORDERED ASTON MARTIN DB4 BRITISH ALPINE GREEN MATALIC well a copy im not spendin £70 a ltr on the real stuff lol
when i can get my mate joss to mix it up at horison motorsport for £30 a ltr
also there will be aditions to the styling
satin black and gun metal will be the colours for the other bits
angel eyes
wheels (S8)
rear lights
also twin on each side side exit pipes at the back end of the sills with a stainless heat plate on each side skirt
black mesh
and black tin pressed plates
i have run the idea past a few mates the word sick came up a few times

Id just like to inform you that your level of madness has inspired me to consider a completely insane route with my polo one day. 2.0 turbo scooby lump. I know they put em in beetles so why the f**k not lol.

This is all sounding good btw. I didnt know someone had managed to cram a mk4 engine and box into a 6N, thats good news. Theyre may well be hope yet :D

I look forward too seeing this at some meets dude!

Get some more pics up here! Respect for doing the sanding of the body yourself, I'd wouldn't wanna brun my fingers on that myself, know myself too well to foresee troubles and driving it to the paintshop in the end

Good luck! And make sure to get shots from the works up 8)

not sorry it wont b any good for a 1.6 only a 1.4
and its being sold with the engine
i dont have any plans
but i used
standard manifold with an adapeted flange plate i made
a 403 golf gti turbo the smaller one not the k04 tt turbo
an itercooler off a 06 grand vitara 2.5 turbo
the downpipe was off the golf which i had to do allsorts with to make it fit the with the standar pipe
all of the pipes and lines i used were front the scrap yard and things i had lyin around
but i did need a T piece for behing the block to the oil presure sender could still work and also give the turbo the oil i needed
i made a heat sheald out of ali
and welded a retern nipple into the sump
and turned the dizzy timing late by 3-5 degrees to lower the compression
thats about it really took a weekend
but i had done one before

a turbo conversion insite a hard as u might first thing you almost make it up as you go along
as long as u know what does what that is
your local muppet at quik fit wond have a clue
cuz u cant get s**t than a quik fit fitter
