i'd never really liked them either but my latest one absorbs so much more than a chamois and is more likely to be scratch free
my chamois has since been binned

A never use the two bucket method. A simply use hot water sponge and chamois then a start the clay, polish, and wax! <-- important stages
Started sprayin Quick Detailer over the polish/wax just before a wipe it off, makes it so much easier when removin the wax/polish and leaves a much better finish!! Cheers Jeff!

one bucket, a sponge AND a chamois, it's like the ultimate swirl causing trio!!!
i use a detailing spray to remove polish but not glaze or wax, everything comes off really easy after it's been clayed and polished

Well after i polish and wax it theres no swirls. Even if am just givin it a quick wash ie no polish it still comes up pretty good i think!

get it under some strong lights and you'll see

as soon as I take a car in my garage under the halogens you see the swirls and other defects like crazy
polishing and waxing doesnt get rid of swirls unless it's machine polishing, some polishes have fillers that will slightly disguise the defects for a time
cars come with swirls out the dealership due to them using one bucket and a sponge on their cars, dealership valets are a disgrace

when i used to do it i, cleaned the car using 1 bucket to get s**t off. dried it. then cleaned the inside, shampoo and all the shizzle. then 2 step machine polish the outsite till it was perfect. then polised it by hand for a showroom finish.
but vw swirled my car to death when they cleaned it lol
