TBH I'm the same as you Jeff, I prefer the real McCoy to Replica stuff.

Just personal preference I guess.

Great to hear you got them at a better price. Tyre's wise continental's are very good, yet very expensive in comparison to other one's.

Jeff why don't you strip the tyres off your comps buddy?

replicas are for the lose, always worse material (soft, heavy) and the look and durability of the finish is never as good

I agree - My A8 replics were fairly heavy and the finish wasn't up to the standard of genuine items. My merc rims are light and top quality

Replicas are not needed.

There are lots and lots of multispoke wheels made by reputable companies that look just like the over priced VW commisioned wheels.

Fair enough wanting the 'real deal' but having your blinkers on for the sake of staying OEM is just foolish.

i have no blinkers on as such, just dont do copies, and i feel non genuine equipment just does not come up to the class of oe stuff too, but as i say, thats just my preferance

these aristo's are made by oz, so have all the characteristics of a lightweight, strong motorsport wheel, whilst retaining the original equipment factor, good looks and great finish

as for stripping the tyres, i dont wish to risk damaging the comps for the new owner, plus the fact they are now sold anyway pending recieving the deposit for them

i also was most swayed to the conti's as they are german like the car, so fit the bill well, iv decided against the bridgestones after seeing the re050 fitted to a 7.5j wheel today, they sit inside of the wheel and dont stretch to the outsides, so for that reason alone it will be one of the following i choose

conti sport contact 3's
dunlop sp sport 9000
toyo proxes t1r

most probably the conti's as i loved the sport contact 2's on my golf, and the contact 3's are their replacement

I've experienced Yokohama S306's and Continental Sport Contact 2's and am impressed with both of them!

those wheels abve are made by tsw, cant for the life of me remember the name of them though

anyway, i was scouring e bay and just bought a set of 4 proxes t1r from the same place i got my last set for the comps

i played safe as i have had them and like them already, they are comfy, quiet grip like glue and are very reasonably priced, another thing is my current t1r tyres are fitted to a 7.5j wheel and they come out over the wheel slightly, i did not want to risk not having this with another brand as the oz's are also 7.5j

only cost £250 delivered next day, cant grumble at that

I'm pretty happy with my 205/40/17 T1R's on my alloys (7.5J), as you said the tyre goes over the side of the rim. They do grip well in the dry but they are a bit unsure in the wet imo.

i found them to be a really good all rounder too, glad its not just the opinion of me

not sure about the wet either, as i dont push the car much in the wet, i go in to old and slow mode what its raining, but i have never had any issues, sliding, loss of traction etc

I have the cup wheels on me car. I got mine from the dealers at around £850. I've seen the wheels on a r32 in a gunmetal color, which looked really nice.

They'll look awesome on your car Jeff, if you decide to get them.
