Sorry to hear about the crash mate.
I was involved in a crash a few weeks ago, when a woman rear ended me at an island and drove off (without me able to get her plates). My previous car (a Saxo VTR) was declared a write off.
My insurance (More Than) paid me out and didn’t take away any of my no claims as I wasn’t at fault and even though I didn't have another driver to claim against; they wouldn’t insure me on my GTi mind…lol

Actually it is becuase of both.
Sorry but i disagree,
there are thousands upoon thousands of uninsured drivers out there, thats the reason, also if you get done with drink or drug driving, you aint covered by your insurance, so all that counts,
So i'd say your lucky if in total it was 5-10% claims (In the Whole of the Uk) The resons premiums, and the rest 90-95% was what i stated!

Sorry to hear this Tegwin. But I'm pretty shocked at the quotes some people have recieved for similiar cases like this?!
I had my rear bumper knocked a while back, which included crimpling of the numberplate recess, a pierce just above the exhaust and all sorts of scuffs on it....
I got it repaired AND smoothed for 100 quid!
New bumper should set you back about 90 pounds

The insurance company want to have some random approved crash repair centre in the arse end of nowhere do the repairs on my car...Its ok though they are willing to come and pick the car up and drive it to be repaired....

I THINK NOT
I am going to suggest that I take it to my local (and highly regarded) crash repair center who are incentally VW approved....
They are doing me a quote...so we will see what he comes out with.

The damage on your bumper is just paint scuffs from the pics they might charge the company whos repairing it for bumper and mounts and all that and just repair the bumper as its only scuff marks, Get them to actually have a new bumper and for u to have the parts they have removed like broken parts as proof of new parts and all that, Ur lucky i had some1 reverse into my wheel arch and i rang him on the day he did it and he said he would pay, Few days passed and he never payed and i cant get hold off him nemore lol! Im a crash repairer for rolls royce and can fix it but i mean its hastle lol, ur lucky really! lol!

Had the quote from the local paint shop.....£450 for a rear bumper fill and respray, new mudflap and rear quater panel blend and polish....
Pretty reasonable IMHO...
Just have to wait for the insurance comapany to sort things out!

I think that's alot, in comparison to the prices you can get around here. But if the other party is paying and it's a perfect job who cares

Mate not nice when things like this happen. But this is defo repairable. I've repaired far worse than this in the past. Although you have to report all incidents to the police I would have tried to settle it outside the insurance parties.
