I can tell you how to program a key thats got the buttons on, 6N2 I think. The program at work wouldn't go further back than 5 years, so I couldnt get the instructions to prior to that.
Ring your local VW dealer and tell some sob story about another dealer not programing it properly, and try and get it done for nothing! Worked for me once. If you got the key from a local dealer, ring a different dealer!
