Alot of palces will fit the tyres mate. Just check with them before hand that they are capable of the job. It's really not that unheard of nowadays.

well i have asked a couple of tyre places to fit them and they just give me the look of shock as they don't know what i am on about

you cannot buy stretched tyres or get them stretched, what ppl mean is that you buy tryes what are too narrow for your wheels and this is where you get the look from.....

i know you cant buy that way but you dont fit them like normal tyres which is why most places dont fit them or dont know about them i will be getting the tyres my self i just need a tyre place that will fit them

Dont know if this is a stupid question as I know loads of you have stretched tyres but doesn't it affect the performance of the tyre or add more risk of damage etc. Or are you aware and just do it for the cool look?

With extreme stretch Howard, the tyre wall doesnt flex as a "normal" tyre would under hard cornering. So you run the risk of effecting the handling for the worse

Its an on going argument that will never be resolved

Gotya. So common sense says It will affect performance even if its only a tad but its a sacrifice for a unique look.

No thats what I ment. I haven't seen many other's around apart of DUB's.

I'm with you on that one. I would prefer low profile tyres and that way you know your getting the best from your tyre.

I get a litte scrubbage at silly speeds but thats few and far between.

I can throw my car into a corner and be safe knowing im gonna grip instead of bricking it thinkin my tyres are gonna lose traction

ive had stretched tyres for years, had no problems with them coming off the rim, ran 165/50/15 on my ats cups, chucking it into corners, had no problems, grip was spot on, if anything, better then normal tyres, keep them inflated at the right PSI and you wont have no problems!

It's not just for looks either.

My tyres would be non-existant if they weren't narrower and stretched! It gives you more arch clearance.

Obviously looks is a strong factor too.

I've had no handling issues with mine either, I found mine better because of how much wider my Monos are.

Exactly. I have never seen the appeal of stretch tyres. I'd rather my car be about go rather than show. A slight stretch can look good but then there is nothing wrong with a good set of low profile tyres

looks like i've started a divide now

You can't always get the desired low profile tyre though, sometimes the only option is a little stretch
