I've got a Logitech G25 wheel for my (now non existant!) PS3 (after all the stick I give 360's for breaking, my PS3 broke in 6 months). If only I could put the wheel and gear shift in the polo, its handstitched leather 8)

I paid £148 or similar for the cambelt change on my Mk4, but its not the part which is expensive its the labour it takes to get to the old one.

Scratches would have to be filled and then sprayed over, expect an average of around £100 per panel to get them done in the above.

15" alloys with that tyre profile would look OK, but I would definatly try and go for a 45 profile as it looks much sportier and doesn't fill the arches allowing for more lowerage in the future :lol:

I don't want to lower it, I think it makes them look like Go-Karts.

What do you reckon would be the best colour and type of alloy wheel (not size) to have on a flash red MK4? I know it's probably mostly down to personal preference but I just can't decide which would look best!

I'm an OEM whore right now so BBS alloys are my sort of thing, however when you put alloys on I can't help but think they look like 4x4's without lowering. Large arch gap = bad, reasonable gap = healthy, no gap = madness!

I have BBS Rxii's on my flash red Mk4, but it seriously needs lowering to look good. Depends what look you're going for though.

I like the look of these - I don't really want to spend any more than £500 on the alloys and tyres. Just need something that looks a bit smarter than rusting steel wheels! I only use the car to drive around and to get to work and back everyday (lots of motorway driving) and don't intend to take it to shows or events etc. I'm not that into cars, just want to make this one look nice :)

You need to have 195/45 tyre to keep the speedo correct - if its a 50 it will be quite out just so you know ;)

I don't agree with those alloys. I think they'll make the car look cheap, no matter how much they cost.

I'd get some BBS RXIIs like Darren suggested

I think they are in excess of £800 new for a set, and you'll be lucky to find a set. Best bet it to look second hand, there are plenty on the market right now. Oh, and its ok to use that image Tim, its one of my favourites 8)

I do love my RXii's, although i'm on the lookout for some winter wheels (cmon Alexperkins, Sell me your CC's :wink: ).

Yeh you can pick up a good second hand set for around £250-300.

Or get a set in need of a refurb for £150 or so. then get them refurbed.

All in all you'll be spending about £300-400 for new tyres and the wheels in a decent state!! So way under your £500 budget.

They'd also hold their value, if you keep them in perfect nick you'll be able to sell them on for probably prett much what you paid for them.

Absolutly, it's definatly worth getting a set of decent ones for a little extra because they will be better looking and not having to be refurbed. I have a set of polished lipped RXii's which were refurbed (centers with lip polished) with BF goodrich tyres for £400. Not cheap but they are without a doubt (IMO :D) one of the best set of them i've ever seen.

There's a set going for sale on here, the guys says they'll need new tyres and a refurb but it's a good start. I'd offer around £150 but would require to see pics first.

I'm probably going to want to get them on finance (what with body work and cambelt needing to be paid for) so I'll have to get them from a retailer which will mean I can't buy second-hand BBS alloys.

What about these? They're a kind of similar style, smart enough for the likes of me I think.

I'm not a fan of those either really. Completely up to you of course though. Have you looked at Dubmeister.co.uk? Most of their range is really nice.
