I guess you mean the pop up "Importers and distributors of brake friction, discs....blah blah"?

Well, since you've requested clarification, my girlfriend's Mum works for United Brake, who manufacture and supply a number of well known brake companies with their discs. I (wrongly) assumed Brakeworld was part of the same firm, but obviously not.

Trust me, I've been driving and modifying VWs for 20 years and have used the finest brake linings available, so I know a good pad when I see one and these Brakeworld ones are excellent for the money. OE plug and wire on the sensor pad, they fit in the calipers perfectly and the initial bite is far better than the pads that came off. Can't complain at all.
I'm not trying to pounce etc, just trying to clear things up as the norm on these forums is to only say what you know is true otherwise these postings would turn into Wiki where anyone can make any statement and some poor soul just happens to believe it when its complete mince! We need to trust that each other has done their homework and as such any thing said is roughly 100% true otherwise the forum turns into "urban myth" or "total pants" - that's all.

BTW, just to keep you right, United Brake manufacture for the replacement market only and only seem to manufacture brake discs - which they probably do very well (I hope so because they are British) - this thread started life as a brake pad thread and it seems that United Brake do not manufacture friction materials at all - so back to my original statement - but I'm sure their aftermarket discs would be just the job!

I'd still stick with buying OEM but from a cheaper source than the dealers - ie buying Pagid and Textar from GSF - both these brands (same company) have had to carry out extensive testing in approved facilities and these two brands are fitted at the factory to VWs - but with the VAG logo and part number on them.
