Kenny were these AP coilovers? if so I need to pick your brain!

tried fitting the AP kit on my mates yesterday, the rear mounts didnt fit the springs without flipping the springs upside down and taking the adjustors out, and the front springs weren't big enough to sit on the front mounts properly.

I was fairly sure they were the complete wrong kit, but a phone call to venom apparently stated 'it's the same kit throught the 9N and 9N3'.

i assume you got yours fitted elsewhere. did they say anything about having troubles fitting the front srpings with the top mounts? or do you have any pictures of the kit prior to fitting?

cheers

Hmmm sounds like the kit maybe wrong mate? The springs fitted without any troubles at all to the mounts at the front, took the guys no time at all. Took more time removing and fitting the new bushes! Same for the rears, i removed the adjuster totally as it sat too high, but the spring fited now problem mate, the flat of the spring sat at the bottom if ya know what i mean??? Sounds like AP have got them mixed up if you are having problems with them both? My kit was the Polo 9N as they are all the same chassis.

Just noticed this post Chris, yeah they scrub like ****, i raised them a bit the other day and they only scrub when goin "fast" and hit a bump in the road, which is a lot with our roads! Need to raise them a touch more before i get the tracking done tomorrow which am not happy about

get some 195x40x17 tyres on them and wind them back down

i have just dropped mine more this morning, now have some lovely nose down action compared to the back of 1/4 of an inch

just enough i think, just need to get the bbs's back on now after they are balanced and tracking re done

Cheers for that kenny, i know what you mean with the rears, we had to mount them upside down so they'd fit the mounts! not good. And the fronts werent having it at all.

my mate phoned them yesterday and also sent picture evidence. Venom said they'll pass it onto AP for a response, and if it's inconclusive they'll just exchange the kit! happy days

Am just going out to have another look, see if i can do anything to reduce the scrubbing, failing that just need to put them up a tad. Just put new tyres on this week, wish i knew 195's would of went on, must be well stretched!!!

Tim - yeah sounds like you'll get a new kit, your mate must be raging!

send me a pic tim as they are the same design as my weitecs, you must note that gti spec ones are different to other 9n polos as the front strut is larger so if its a tdi you are fitting them too you need the gti spec kit!! I know this from fitting standard 9n coilovers to my gti b4 and had to add a metal sleeve to them as they were too skinny for the hubs on the front! :P

i have solved the rubbing problem by removing the front screws from the arch liner and folding the metal flap in and also the arches pull out a bit by hand but dont pull too hard!!

Can't believe how thin the front wings are on the 9N3, I'd love to be able to roll my own arches haha.

Chris were fitting them to a 1.2. I'll get hold of the pic for you. But basically the front spring was too small in diameter to sit on the top mount properly!

Yep they're the right way up, as the other side is flat for the adjustor to sit on. We did try flipping them for the hell of it anyway, also didn't fit!
