Purchase a 300mm strip of 12v white LED from Maplin ... Part Number N87CZ for around £8
Remove the light using the directions in earlier post.
Unclip the two halves of the light unit.
Cut the wires on the plug side of the diode and resistor.
Cut the flared ends off the posts to remove the original LED strip.
Remove the posts to make a flat surface for sticking the new LED strip on.
Drill two wire diameter holes as indicated by the red lines.
Thread the original wires through the new holes.
Solder the wires to the tiny + and – dots on the strip, solid black to minus.
Stick the LED strip into the unit using the self adhesive backing.
Plug in and test.
Replace the Perspex front and the unit into the car.

Thank you for this fix , went to maplin with n87cz part number and soldered it in to the light housing . It works great

You're welcome ... did you use 250 mm as i did? ... if so, the next person ought to get 300mm as it looked to me it would fill the space better.

No I put in 300mm right across the old LEDs , took the risistors out of circuit, and had trouble before I released it + - you must have the polarity right. 300mm is the one. Makes me think of other lighting ideas now.
