I wouldnt put anything more than 30mm less on standard shocks. Any more and it will just destroy the dampers. I did install a cheapish spring/damper set and it was an awfull ride. Next time i'm def going to spend alot more. You'll only regret it and end up spending more. You get what you pay for.

They gave it much better handling the ride was harsher than I wanted or thought and it rubbed. Think I would go for a set of KW coilovers next time. Check my progress thread out for how it stood on them.

I think with suspension you need to spend that little bit extra for quality assurance.
Its one of the most important things and I never understand it when people go for the cheapest possible solution when it comes to lowering.

You get exactly what you pay for at the end of day, spend little and expect little for your money.

Weitecs & AP's budget coilovers are very good and well priced at £320-350 for the set and if you want extra quality then expect to pay another £100-150.

I spent £500 on my Spax Coilovers and they have been fantastic, they are expensive but the car feels so good with them fitted, they also have adjustable damping settings too which certainly does make a difference.

If you dont have the funds for a good set then simply wait longer & save up, I saved up for nearly 8 months for my wheels & coilovers.

Same as ben stated,is suspension really the kind of thing you want to skimp on?.Weitecs cheapest coilover is £437 and i have them on my car.Really good quality and well worth the extra pennies.I would go to the breakers and see if there are any polo's with lowering springs or look in the classifieds if you really want some but i wouldn't bother buying some only to know they'll shortly replaced by coilovers.

As above I would save for coilovers. They give you more options for the future if you are wanting to go lower etc. I would also save up for a good set rather than over the “cheapies” found on ebay etc as they are an essential part of the running gear of the car!
