right sorry to bring up an old thread but this is starting to really annoy me, where does the interior light earth to ?
ive whittlred it down to the possibility that the fuse only blows when im blasting music with the sub going if its on low its ok but if i give it some... it results in a blown fuse and no interior light. the amp to my sub is earthed to a bolt in my boot.
can anyone help ?

interior light is earthed into the loom which eventually earths on the interior side up underneath the dash where the drivers side wing effectively is.
It would suggest that your sub is shorting causing a + voltage to go into the body blowing the fuse for the light - try disconnecting your amp for a few days and see if the fuse for the lamp blows.

Apologies for bringing up an old thread but do you mind telling me what LED it is you have? Does it also dim down as well like the standard bulb or does it just turn off?

Nice, cheers for the link

15w though?! isn't that massively bright?
The 6n2 does have a dimming function on the interior light. As i was searching for the correct bulb I read about a few other members who weren't getting the dimming function so they swapped their bulb round (something to do with the polarity presumably) and the light then dimmed off rather than just turned straight off!

as for the dimming... i really didnt know that, this bulb dosent dim just turns straight off, but i prefer the look of this bulb that it dimming everytime i open my door lol

Only the GTIs have the dimming light. It can be added to other models by using golf mk3 GTI interior light circuitry
