I can pretty conclusively say that going up from 175 to 195 tyres has dropped the mpg by about 3-4mpg
last two tanks - mixed running (50/50 short trips/town v long runs)
46mpg and 45 mpg -driving style unchanged - and would have seen 49 before
Hmm, could you use 165/45s? Just a thought that as it's narrower than standard insurance companies may not be too happy. I'd best dig my mk1 out again; 135s

Last tank 39.8 (back to below 40 again
)
OK Reasons for the big drop
- Bloody 195 tyres (increasing the rolling resistance)
- It's getting into winter so lots of cold starts (I am a bit of a bugger for turning it on and leaving it running with the heater on full blast to de-ice the windows in the morning.)
- This tank has an overly large share of short trips (took the Monza out last weekend to charge the battery)
- I've been ragging it round local B roads to test the shocks and springs (and see how she handles)
- Plus tonight I had to get to London by 9pm (to deliver the old wheels sold on Ebay) and I didn't leave that early so it was 70mph down the dual cabbageways and Motorways (yeah right)
but the rain started falling real heavy on the way home so gentle cruise at 65mph (her happy speed) should have really pulled the average back up.......
I'll see what the next tank gives - I might have to buy some de-icer tho!!!
