Unfortunately for me, when my wife's 9N one failed, or at least the washer jet rotated with the arm, I went to sort it using a Golf Mk4 repair kit, now that little gem of information was picked up from a Seat or Skoda forum, so it might have sorted their problems but the shafts were too short for the 9N Polo, ended up buying the correct kit - I can't explain why I had not found it in my parts list probably did not look too well, anyway, broke the Golf Mk4 kit removing it so it hides in the garage "just in case" and fitted the correct kit.

i had the same issue, the tubing has connectors throughout the car and tends to come apart very easily.

firstly check the washer bottle itself, you can get to it throught the plastic wheel liner behind the passenger side wheel

secondly check the passanger side of the boot, pull back the carpet on the left hand side and you will be able to see the black pipe, there is a connector here so check if it is still connected

lastly there is a connector in the engine bay, you have to remove the airbox and you will see the black pipe, just make sure it is connected.

I squirted the water today and the water is touching the ground right at the front under the engine where the passenger side headlight is so I think its this engine bay connector.

Could you possibly tell me which of the two big black boxes is the "air box" and how i'd go about taking it off? Thanks for any help

Does the airbox just lift out?

I had the exact same problem when i bought my polo 9n3
I first of all checked the most common place where it comes of which at the back in the boot.. That was all good and connected.. Then checked the bottle it self that also was good. The werid thing was there was a leak towards the front of the engine and the middle of the car underneath which made me think the pipes disconnected from 2 different places but i guess i was wrong.. So i removed the airfilter box. Removed the 2 pipes (Air in take pipe and the top pipe which is holded on a roud clip (need the big pliers to remove this) Then theres 2x screws on the top of the filters box.. Removed that.. Then on the side of the airfilter box is a 10 or 13mil bolt which needs removing.. Now for the tricky bit which is removing the box from where it sits.. Slowly pull the box from its place and you will realise theres a rubber grommit type seal on the back which sits in place (try not dropping that on the floor as you will be needing that when putting it back in to place.

Once the air filter box is removed look straight down you will see a black pipe which disconnected.. You could get someone to sit in the car and do the rear windscreen whilst you try to pin point as to where the pipe is. I made sure that mine never ever comes again as it was a real pain in the a$$ to get to i put plastic tie straps on (the very small ones).. Put the airfilter box back in to its place.. Make sure you connect the airflow /mass meter connector.

Got it fixed :) Had to take off the panelling under the engine and stick in the cable. Mate did it for a tender
