Try and find someone who can come out with you in the car and Log it using VAGCOM. They will be able to check the air flow measurements being taken by the MAF and give you an indication of wether or not it is that. VAGCOM will also give you the fault code from the lamda sensor if that is the issue.

Yeah, that readout is 150.7 HP @ the wheels
I have VAGCOM, might have a play tomorrow

half true, VAGCOM can not allways measure out the MAFsensor completly.
like i said, i have a good friend that have had problems with his maf sensor and VAGCOM did not find any problems.
but he changed the maf-sensor and the car was ALOT faster after he changed it and he diddn't have problems ever after.
good point anyhow, like said above, try it out with vag-com, normally when something is wrong, you should see it.
if you do have 150Hp@wheels you have about 205Hp@the flywheel.
so this could be more correct for youre set up.
but on the other hand, youre torque figures are not correct if you do have 150Hp @wheels.
every dyno you put youre car on measures @wheels, this is the correct number you need and accurate.
but mostly they calculate it to youre power @flywheel, this is calculated, not measured, so not accurate.
so i guess you do have 150Hp@flywheel. bacause you only have 180lb-ft wich is what you should have with 150Hp also.
i don't think there is something wrong with the dyno...
K&N = oil based and the oil can damage the MAF sensor indeed.
i have the same filter for 4.5years now, several cleanings done and still using oil.
never had a problem.
upposed to bebut on the other hand, you only need 1 contact between the oil and the sensor itself and it's damaged.
could also explain the fluctuation problem you have.

150Hp @the wheels than, if that is actually the case, what are you worrying about?
about the 180lb-ft, i'm from belgium, over here we use Nm.
but as i calculate that is what you should have stock.
unless they measure it diffrent in the UK. don't know cause i'm not used to work with lb-ft.
but if you do have 150Hp@ the wheel you have +200Hp@ the fly

Ahh right!
180 lb-ft is about 244 Nm, does that sound correct to you for stage 1?
Revo quote 240 lb-ft (325 Nm) for stage 1
If 150 hp @ the wheels is 200+ @ the fly
What will 180 lb-ft (244 Nm) @ the fly?

thats what i calculated also...
thats verry low for stage 1, you should have around 300nM easy.
244nm is what you should have stock...
to give you an example,
my 100% stock polo made 161Hp@fly and 255nM.
so i made stock more torque as youre stage 1... something is not right.
i'm starting to think that youre output is 150@fly.
otherwise you torque figures will be alot higher.
as far as i know torque is not calculated @ the fly.(at least, not over here)
allways measured at the wheel.

Hmm something is definetly not running as it should
But if it was 150hp @ fly, could a standard car with 244 Nm run a 14.47 on a 1/4 mile? And it definetly feels much quicker than before the map, that's what I can't understand
I'll try cleaning the MAF tomorrow, see if that helps. I'm gonna put my cat back on aswell I think

clean youre maf??
i won't spray anything on it... leave it as it is, it's verry fragile.
if you use products on it you will probably damage it.
try it out with vagcom first.
a stock Polo can't even get into the 14's. (more like +-15.1 - 15.5)
so if you do +-14.5 it has the power it should have.
when did you do this, long ago??
ps: i'm getting things screwed up, sorry.
i calculated wrong... (had a few drinks this evening

)
mostly they calculate 15% loss between engine/wheels.
so 150.7Whp is about 173.3Hp@ engine. (this is more "in line" with youre torque figures)
but even with 180Hp you won't run 14.5sec on 1/4mile so it still doesn't match up.
again, sorry for the mistake!
use vagcom tomorow, see if you notice anything thats not right.
if everything is good.
try and run 1/4mile on a Gtech or Vbox or so.
see again what times you drive, if you do drive mid 14's, youre car is good, trust me on that one.
if it's running 180Hp or if you have a broken MAF, it won't run those times.
if that is all good, the dyno must be busted

kc wrote:if youve decatted and on stage 1 it wont run right unless you map out the rear lambda sensor which is connected to the cat
revo stage 2 runs without the rear lambda so either upgrade to that, or get it mapped out
it'll be runnin standard, or even less than standard if its im limp mode mate!
on the qtr mile i got 14 dead with a standard car so its not running right well by the sounds of it!
bahahaha
it was late! i meant 14 dead with a mapped car! (stage 1 revo)
soz for confusion!

going through the figures it still seems quite low considering its stage one revo!
this is a graph of my old polo when it was on stage 1 APR (before the Revo amnesty) and this was only 176.5bhp @ the wheels and 222.6ft/lb (301.8nm)
at the fly (clutch) the power is 189bhp
there isnt alot of loss going through the gearbox which is suprising!
With my current polo on revo stage 2 (not a flash - but set up on the RR) im getting 215.19bhp and 293.95ft/lb (398.5nm)
did three runs and that was the set up that the mapper finished off at!

that is something else mate
did you do exacly a 14.0sec?
thats a verry verry sharp time with just stage 1, nice going!
i have stage 2 and my best time so far is 14.1sec. (only did 1 dragraceday so far while its mapped)
hope to reach 13.9sec one day, but first trying to get 14flat
it has 240Hp measured on a Vbox (soon a real dyno)
but it's custom tuned, had it tuned pure for torque, not ideal for dragracing, better for rolling starts or circuitwork.
what power does youre car have on stage 1 and decat?
did the decat made much diffrence?
edit: you where faster!

i got 14.0 with a 0.4 reaction

was running toyo proxes at around 18psi on the day!
best run ever!! haha
trying to break into the 13s now with a stripped out interior and raised rear end and semi slicks running around 12psi! anything in the 13s will do for now!
not run up the strip on stage 2 yet, but that will come later on in the year!
im on revo stage 2 buddy! not stage 1! and i still have the milltek 100cell sports cat in! going to get a decat soon to see if it makes a difference! im hoping it will!

proxes R1R?
comes close to semi slicks.
with stripped out interiour and semi slicks you will get 13.8-13.9 i guess
raising the back won't make much i guess, currious tho
i'm in the same position as you.
also getting something like semi slicks and hoping to get into the 13's.
will be verry hard!
any idea what youre 0-60 is?
ps: thought you said you did 14 flat with stage 1, my mistake

Turbomier wrote:so you did 14sec with stage 1 when you had 190Hp and 300nM??
hard to believe...
but with youre stage 2 on 215Hp and 395nM i think it's possible, still verry good time tho!
also tuned for torque i see, alot of fun with rolling start in traffic

no no! the stage one graph up there is my old polo on APR map! times on that were 14.5 - 14.7
revo stage 1, TIP and full milltek i got 14 flat
now on revo stage 2, TIP, milltek - need to do a run! hoping for the 13s!
damn right tuned for torque! "horsepower sells cars, torque wins races"
