Sounds to me like you need to have the throttle body reset.
Any reputable garage should be able to do this if you don't have vagcom yourself.

Thanks for the reply mate! I have VAGCOM but not the full version. Can it still be possible to reset the throttle body?

Look like a possible leak from the turbo or a fault with your dump valve. Maybe the pipe has come off he dv?? Looks like it's losing pressure somewhere

But it is nothing to do with the throttle body being cleaned?

It Could be, not that likely though, if I'm perfectly honest, it could be a faulty dv heard of this a lot in these engines also just pressure leaks in the turbo system. But largely likely it may be incorrectly aligned throttle body. It was also a bad move to move the butterfly valve when cleaning because this can damage the tb. Best thing is to get it to someone who knows best I'm afraid to say. With the turbo engines it's worth the money I'm afraid man

A man why did i move the butterfly valve nobody warned me about that
During cold starts the car always had high revs but and you can hear the revs settling down after 1 min from start. When it is settling down, the engine feels hesistant and the whole car shakes if u know what i mean? Once the revs calm down, the idle is smooth

It's so hard to tell. When mine used to be hesitant I just used to floor it and it stopped it. But it would come back again, until I cleaned the throttle body. Have you also done the air filters?? Could be that or sparks? I'd seriously reccomebd taking it to a garage though

Nah it's not got a 1.0 but I used to have the 225 Audi TT which is essentially the same and worked on a lot of friends 1.8t too.

Could moving the butterfly value actually do alot of damage to the TB? With a bit of force it was moving freely and wasn't restricted in any form.
I am trying to get hold of a VAGCOM so I can run a TB alignment and hopefully I can solve the cold start high rev. When it is warm the idle is absolutely fine......

It can do but I believe that's forcing it. I know on the fly by wire on my current one I couldn't even move it . I'm by no means a car expert I just have minor experience. A friend of mine had no end of trouble with the vacuum on his turbo and also faulty dv

IIRC throttle body on the polo gti BJX engine is not a fly by wire. As you said it could probably be a DV......

Well one of the tuners on my local car forum lended me his VCDS Did the alignment and could hear the VCDS communicating with the throttle body.
The idle seems far better than what it was......hopefully it will behave in the morning.
So whoever is planning on cleaning their throttle body make sure they have access to VCDS beforehand because the automatic key in ACC does not work
on the POLO GTI well certainly not on mine..............
I will update the forum once I do a cold start in couple hours to see if the idle is not hesitant.
BTW even though I could hear the clicking noise, is group 060 correct for the alignment?
