Exhaust, induction and remaps

Post by chrispy. »

I'd prefer to have a specialist plug my car in and customise it to that rather than buy a box that made on batch to one limit (max) as @Mayhem said..

Just piece of mind that the box wont put too much pressure on the crankshaft or clutch or so on.

If I had the choice I would also go for the map. Sadly cant find anyone who will do one for this engine.

Revo do a map for the tsi and its same price as the DtUk box and better results. Superchips may be worth a look or more-bhp.com

Not for the 1.4 ACT engine.

Exhaust, induction and remaps

Problem with maps is it's traceable if it comes with warranty you can safely say you won't have it after a map unless your gonna pay to have it put back and flashed which will be over double the price if a box the box is tuned to the specific car exactly like a map the only positive about a custom map these days is that you can change anything you want to a point eg torque, bhp etc and you can get better results from a map but your still pushing the engine hard as you would be custom setting it to max

Also worth noting DTUK boxes come with several programs and can be adjusted up and down.

Also, I have had a superchips and APR map on my Golf GTI and a revo map on my old polo GTI. Both were just straight flashes, with no adjustment for the individual car.

The DTUK is quite expensive to just get upto 125bhp when Revo is upto 140bhp. I have no warrenty so a map would prob be a better investment. I would be interested in the dtuk box if it was at least 130bhp for £400.

I guess another good thing with a box if you have any issues it can be removed in minutes

Sorry, have misread this thread. In your case I would defintly get the map. With the BlueGT the box is the only option.

Exhaust, induction and remaps

@rsmagee so the box would be best for me then getting it up to 183 from 150 and I have 3 years warranty. Quick question though if I fit a cat-back it won't affect the box will it ?

I think a box is the only option with a blue GT. As for the cat back, are you sure that would not invalidate your engine warranty?

Yeah but I'll just change it back to standard before services, and as the standard car will still be on the car no engine lights should come on, me and my girlfriend are both engineers so it's an easy swap
