New GTI

I think the Blue GT gained a lot of popularity due to a) the relatively cheaper price against the 6R 1.4TSI GTI, and b) the issues (whether real or not) with that GTI's 1.4TSI engine and DSG 'box combination.

Given the price difference now between the Blue GT and 6C GTI (less than £1k on list price), and the new 1.8 TSI engine, I imagine there'll be more people opting for the GTI over the Blue GT now - especially when they hit the showrooms.

Blue GT is a very good car, but I had no doubt about ordering a GTI over one.

Makes you wonder if they will drop the BlueGT price, considering not a lot of them are sold (apparently). The salesman I spoke to, had never sold one before me! I believe that even included the 6R version. £1k for a more powerful engine.. I think people will bite VW's hand off unless they want fuel efficiency and performance at the same time..

I've had my current GTI for 4.5 years and I can't say that I have annoying squeaks and rattles.
On one of the GTI reviews, in German, I put the subtitles on, the guy goes on about how well put together it feels.
None of us can comment on the new version because we haven't got our eager little hands on it yet. My order status on the VW website still reads 'with the factory, your order is with the factory and is being prepared for production'.

In answer to your other question the sport button changes between normal/comfort and sport. 2 settings. Changes ride, throttle response and steering and the sound of the engine in the cabin. I think the option cost is an absolute bargain!

You get quite a lot as standard on it too. I'm looking forward to having LED headlights, currently I have the factory fit Xenons with daytime fairy lights, which always seem to get some people staring.
Darkened glass from the b pillar was a cost option when i ordered my 2010 but on this new one it's standard kit.

Nice one, one of the big attractions for me is the build quality. Agree the Sport button sounds a bargain. Roll on Wednesday when I test the GT give me an idea of one with more performance

Yes - agree with JohnPolo here, my GTI is pretty much squeak/rattle free, the only exception I had, the rubbers round the door frames were squeaking for a bit, but some silicone spray on them cured it. I do occasionally get a weird vibration from behind the dashboard, but I think it is the sound actuator and does not always do it.

Overall though, the car is very well screwed together made of high quality materials.

I got that impression from my test drive in 1.2 se design. Was a demonstrator that obviously get abused by hundreds of different bums lol and was quiet as a church mouse.

I've downloaded the price list an spec sheet, The DCC has 3 modes, Comfort, normal and sport, a definite tick in that box for £245 if I order

That's interesting , I thought that the Polo only had 2 settings, normal and sport. (I know that it offers less than the system on the Golf GTI.)

My order still says 'with the factory'. Do you think that they make 1 car per week?! How does VW compare with other manufacturers I wonder?

Tbh mate, the VW tracker is unreliable... I was told my build week was 22 then changed to 10 on the 3rd feb, yet the website says with factory still. The salesman said its done on a different database that takes ages to get updated... If you want an update call the dealer
