How does adaptive cruise control work?

Just wanted to know before my BGT arrives :)

Also I hope you get it all sorted quickly!! :)

It works by sonar/laser or what it is that monitors the car in front of you and reduses og increases the speed of the car in order to keep the same gap between you. (of course if you have set the speed at 30 mph it won't go faster...)

You set the speed you want and the gap to the car in front. Then if you come across someone going slowly it slows you down and the minute you pull out it speeds you back up. It will also slow you right down to nothing (if you're brave enough to try it like I was). If someone cuts you up it also slows you down. Just be careful of the emergency braking that comes with it - if you have it activated but aren't using it and someone pulls out in front of you and you're going much faster than them, then it bings twice before slamming on if you don't react.

just to comment on the BlueGT windshield problem... It can't just be a BGT problem since the body is not made on the same line as all the other bodies and could just as easily have been used to make a 1,6 TDI, BlueMotion or some other variant of the Polo.

I'm only reporting what VW have told me, doesn't mean I agree with them

Not a Blue GT but same problem... Windscreen developed a stress crack in top right corner outer layers not broken but inner layer is cracked and growing. VW are sorting it out under warranty

After having the same issue twice with mine Doc, they ordered a third windscreen that's from a different batch to the others and it's been in three weeks now with no issues. They said they've had a few polos back with this problem and VW are saying it was a faulty batch of windscreens from a supplier. They also gave me £250 goodwill as I had to take the car in twice for this, so push for something as it's a known issue.

I have the same problem. A crack appeared on my new (two weeks old!!) Polo GTI front Windscreen overnight from the centre of the screen up and left about 6 inches long.

Contacted VW dealer and waiting for call back...

It seems from the forums a common issue!!
