i'm guessing you mean the reflection of the headlight switch in the drivers mirror obscuring the view in the wing mirror?

You guess correctly.

I think I've answered my own question on how to access as I can see the cables by removing the panel behind the door.

Not cutting any wires until I know which one it is though and that it won't affect anything else.

Ditto. Not saying it doesn't happen but taking a sight line from drivers head to mirror which is behind switch and, in order to see behind angled away from car it is odd.

Is there a potential difference between the automatic and standard switches that may count in the equation? Other variables would be seat height, tilt, horizontal position, use of spectacles etc.

In an attempt to be helpful I've tried to reproduce the reflection but failed miserably.

the reflection is off the glass in the drivers door(meant glass rather than mirror in my last post)

my guess would be to do with the height of the driver as to whether or not it is a problem.

Ok it's not quite dark yet but here is my view (which only gets worse the darker it gets )

If anyone knows which wire lights this switch up that can be disconnected without causing other problems that would be great.

Could you not turn down the brightness for all the dash lights and that could help fix the problem rather than disconnecting the lights completely

I tried that and it doesn't help I'm afraid.

There is also a blue grey wire going to the headlight switch, is this the correct one to remove for this as well, do we know?

The headlight switch feeds the interior lighting through the car. Removing that wire could disable the whole lot.

Actually I've had a thought , watch this space.........

Ok , a temporary solution.

Take small piece of laminating material.



Take some black paper. (i don't have any to hand so printed on white)



Fold and cut to size then laminate.

It slides in the gap.





So I reckon if I can source some thin shiny black plastic it will do the same and look OEM.

At least I should be able to see at night now even if it doesn't look brilliant at the moment.

I never had this issue with my 6R. Its interesting - it must be due to my height/seat position like you say
