I have to agree with you I would love to see a nice pair of polished rocker covers but those days are long gone within my price range but when you look at the Blue gt engine it is hardly a thing of beauty So I prefer to cover it up that said I find the modern engines don't leak oil or water like my twin cams used to but I am touching wood as I say this!

Much easier to keep plastic covers clean with a quick detailer spray and the metals used under the bonnets tend to corrode quickly making it look grubby under there

Have had it on my Blue GT for the last two years now. No problems so far - and the car has a BSR tuning....

As I said, each to his own but putting a cover over the interesting bits does allow the manufacturer to scrimp on finish and means that any corrosion, stress fracturing or simply loose fixings are out of sight and consequently out of mind.

Call me old fashioned or odd but I find the naked BGT motor rather appealing, to me cast, forged and machined surfaces appeal, injection moulded plastic leaves me cold.
