Sure. In the UK you do have better steel and better workers...haha
From my experience all these parts were designed and quality checked by vw so if there is a design flaw, it's not supplier's fault. On the other hand every manufacturer/supplier could make a mistake..
By the way, all failed parts on my Octavia 3 weren't made in CZ (turbocharger, haldex differential). But I don't blame german workers or other suppliers as vw (or skoda in this case) was responsible.
Whoops yes, not much UK steel nowadays unfortunately!
Mainly what I was probably meaning (back pedalling here!) was the fact that initially Fabia was in one area of the market and Polo a lot higher up, so materials and designs would/could be considered "good enough" for Fabia's price tag, but then VAG used them in Polo. I found the front springs were made of low quality steel, with very little paint protection against corrosion - so failed quickly - that annoyed me a lot when the car was about 4 years old, and similarly the ARB, when buying new parts, all these parts were made in CZ - as would all the same parts fitted to Ibiza. That car caused me a lot of problems when it came to taking the front suspension apart, everything was heavily corroded and the material seemed to be too soft - ie wrong spec steel used, but did VAG check that quality frequently? Well maybe, but they forgot that it was also used on VW and SEAT cars.
I do agree, that every time VAG use one marque's parts on another further up the price bracket, they do so at their own risk, but the customer usually pays the bill, typical example of that was the use of the 2.0CR engine in Audis - too many failed and Audi dealers just shrugged their shoulders and said "these thinks happen".
The concept of being able to design a car in maybe Germany and build it anywhere and the quality will be the same is okay in theory but not in practice it seems going on my experience of VW products. Only the Japanese can make sure the quality is the same at all their plants, everyone else just does not give a damn.
All this is an old game that a UK car company once played BCM or British Leyland - but they were even more stupid as they had cars within one marque openly competing with cars from another of their marques, a plan for disaster! (and that worked)
I have been in Prague, nice place, nice people, though maybe traditional food not to my liking, beer is good though!
