I'd be aiming to get a 60amp hour minimum regardless of what the present VW Group suggestion is, seriously I can't see a cheap car company like SEAT fitting a bigger than needed battery to an equivalent late 2009, ie 2010 model year Ibiza with the same 1.4 16V 85/86PS petrol engine and similar extra electrical consumers.
Has that car still got its original battery in it, if so what is the VW Group part number on that battery and if possible what is the battery brand and model?
Edit:- and unless I'm completely back to being wrong/confused, that is where the 027 frame batteries come into the equation, in the case of Bosch S4005.
i just pulled it out and its a LION battery 063 40Ah.... clearly not the one it should have

Super ECP quality right there
40ah is WAY too low.

Try this site. Varta batteries used to be fitted to VW cars as own brand but not sure if that is still the case. Site gives the external battery dimension as well as performance.

And Moll and Exide and - etc and ?
I don’t know the complete story, but it looks like Varta and Bosch share battery designs and just use different colours of plastics, or maybe Varna manufacture batteries for Bosch.
So pick which ever of these brands are easily available to you cheapest, I’ll still suggest a 27 frame size for more months/£ for the life of that battery.

Thanks for all the advice people, i bought the bosch 027 battery and now the car starts so much better
Now all i need to do is turn off the day light running lights and check the RNS510 i install yesterday does not have the power drain issue i had when i installed it in my Golf.

Oh, come on, that battery will be able to handle that constant drain, well maybe not a good plan to prove me wrong!
Congratulations on your choice of battery, you will not regret playing safe!

the power drain issue was present in the golf MK5 since the gateway was only partially compatible with the newer RNS systems. the old gateway (10 years ago) could not send a proper 'sleep' signal to the RNS.
with the newer Polo 6R cars, you don't have to worry about it.
I'm supporting RUM4MO's 'come on man' concerning the DRL disabling as well. DRL is a safety feature and surely won't drain your battery.

iichel, I was only joking about the drain issue, ie “lee005, how dare you question a brilliant new battery of that size” - just having a laugh now that the new battery has been fitted.
DRLs I agree with you there, is there a reliable LED bulb that can be fitted into the cars with filament bulbs in the DRL housing, if there is then that should stop lee005 worrying about excessive current drain from that source, my wife’s SEL has LED DRLs so not a problem for us.

the problem with most batteries, especially the fancy AGM series, is once they're flat, it's pretty much the end of them. happened to me once, bought myself a brand spanking new Bosch S5A battery, 150 bucks, went on holidays for four weeks without the car (never do that) an came back... battery flat.
at least I knew where to get one for a reasonable price with excellent service.

Here is a suggestion from the Skoda (briskoda.net) MK2 section
The assumption here is that lee005’s DRL bulbs are type 382 P21W
https://www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk/382-p ... &end=front
Some one might confirm the actual type fitted to a 6R Polo DRL?

ok i'm being picky now

, so i'm not going to worry about the DRL, but the leak from the expansion tank i am going to fix........

Leak from expansion tank, like through a plastic welded seam, or from the pipe or out the top?

I have a 2010 Audi S4 but I seem to keep it for special occasions, it is kept connected to a CTEK charger/conditioner in my garage, really just to keep its AGM battery in good condition, for any car that gets that little use a CTEK charger is a good idea regardless of battery type. For other reasons I also have a CTEK battery condition tester bought for other reasons and another car, so I test all my batteries in my cars at annual service time and record the results so that hopefully OI can spot a failing battery before it lets me down, I also seem to have a refractometer for checking coolant freezing point and same for washer fluid - probably have too much time on my hands!!!

its coming from the pipe on the side next to the level indicator, probably just needs a new tube.

There are two pipes on these bottles, the small top one is for recirculating coolant I think to allow the system to dump any air back into the bottle area, the big one at the bottom will just be for coolant expansion back up into the bottle during periods of engine use. There is also a shielded hard plastic tube at the LHS which is to allow any air/liquid exiting via the pressure cap to safely be discharged in a safe manner, ie not in your face!
So, if it is that small top pipe, does it need the clip tightened - or has someone accidentally pressed down on that area and cracked the plastic pipe stub part of the header tank/bottle and that leaks when the coolant is up to temperature and so pressurised?
