The pressure regulator FFs dont have any moving parts in them. Its just a pressure chamber to regulate the flow of fuel at a preset rate

Would there be any reason why the tick disappears when the A/C is turned on?
Also could this tick indicate the start of a bigger problem with the fuel pump or reckon it could just be ignored for now? I don't feel like spending £3-400 on a new pump if its fine but just gotten a bit noisy!
Are there any fuel additives like redex that could help reduce the noise? I put in Tesco Momentum about every 3rd/4th fill currently.

Running the AC puts the engine under load and will probably slightly increase the RPM at tickover. It sounds like a vibration to me

I'm pretty sure I have exactly the same issue. I've had a prod and listen and it sounds loudest it the filter itself not the pump. My first guess was it may be a clicking non-return valve opening and closing in sympathy with pressure pulses traveling back down the fuel lines. However I wouldn't disagree that it could well be some resonant vibration that travelling back down the fuel-lines when the car is at tickover. I need to have a mate listen to it while I pull and push the lines. I have had a fiddle with my trusty bit of foam squeezed down into the appature where the fuel lines emerge in the engine bay but not had chance to have a listen and a play.
Edit:- I tried turning on the Aircon and that does indeed stop it. But I have to agree that I think it's just because of the extra load and the revs creep up a tiny bit. I'm going to live with it at the moment and mention it when it goes in for a service. I'm don't intend forking out on a new lift-pump when it might run for years and simply be a bit or wear. New Vduds appear to start wearing things out as soon as they leave the showroom nowadays.
