On the Golf, everything gets white ambient lighting except GTI (red lighting) and R (blue lighting). You can switch on other colours in the Golf with VCDS. The ambient light in the Polo GTI is just white.

Blue ambient lighting, now you're talking.

Interestingly the Ibiza's ambient light strips, which are only in the doors, have both white and red lighting. You chose the colour through the infotainment screen. I'm surprised the Polo doesn't get that.

I'll have a check - maybe it's hidden in the menu somewhere. If they could change colour, for the GTI I'd expect it to go from white to red if you selected Sport mode. Maybe it does - I spend my time in individual mode, with everything Sport except the DCC and fake exhaust sound (both set to normal).

I think that's what happens in the Golf, isn't it?

In my Golf R, the ambient light is permanently blue, but then the car is permanently in "Race" mode (R gets Race instead of Sport).

Checked my Polo's menus tonight - you can change the light brightness, but not the colour. As the wife's just had surgery, I resisted putting the car in Sport mode and having the firmer suspension on while she was in the car.

It stays white irrespective of driving mode in mine

Hello i didnt knew that polo has ambient light . So i order a gti it will have them as standard ? Its on both 2018 and 2019 models ? Thanks

Does a UK spec R-Line have this? I have one ordered on its way and while it says 'Ambient lighting' I thought this might of just been in the center console.

Something tells me on the UK spec.

I'm pretty certain that the UK R-Lines do have it, yes. It certainly looks like it's present in one I just looked at on Autotrader.co.uk!
