So true. I am one of the people that had a Polo SE 2015 from new for 3 years and 6 months with not a single fault. Very good experience for my first ever car. So far not a single issue with my new car but only 300 miles in yet, touchwood for 4 years of fault free driving.monkeyhanger wrote: Fri Jul 19, 2019 2:30 pm These forums are always full of people sharing warranty claim stories, but no one ever tells you if they've had their car 3 years without issue - for that reason, failure rates always look huge on a forum.

I worked for a major vehicle manufacturer for almost 40 years, almost all of that time in quality control, supplier development and laterly as a senior service engineer I was the technical worldwide SME for the product I worked on, so I'm very aware of failure rates etc etc.
But it still doesnt help when you lose a much longed for holiday because your three month old car suffers a major failure, and it takes VW ten hours to get you a replacement vehicle.

The mechatronic unit on my DSG went poop this afternoon, was down shifting round a corner into second and the car was in gear but was just revving with no drive, luckily it was as I was turning into my street, it's being recovered tomorrow. Hoping it's nothing too major but we'll see when they collect it, won't select a gear whatsoever.
