Will do - it might be a little while, as we've just been put into National lockdown here in the UK again! But I will post back once it's resolved, as I appreciate the value this adds to forums like this (I do the same in IT forums, for my work).ho8882000 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 03, 2020 8:23 amPlease give us some update after the dealer find the root cause of the problem. I changed the 15A fuse in slot SC43 but nothing changed, so it looks like a trip to the dealer to see if its the pump itself.

Re: Mk10 Fuse Box Layout
Good Evening gents,
I've just registered a few minutes ago and therefore I'm new to this. Not sure how this all works.
I've read the correspondence between ho8882000 and neilltupman. Seems like I have a similar issue.
We had a week of really cold weather (below freezing) and I activated the windscreen washer by mistake. When no water came out I realised it must be frozen. Now that the weather has returned to + deg C again, I found the pump doesn't even make a noise.
When I checked the fuse in slot 43, it looks ok.
Could it be the relay J576, or even the pump itself (although I imagine the fuse is there to protect the relay and the pump)?
I would appreciate any assistance in this regard, as I would like to avoid paying a fortune at the dealer for something I could possibly sort out.
I look forward to hearing from you.

Re: Mk10 Fuse Box Layout
Can't help with the fix, but has the AW Polo been out long enough in the UK for anyone's to have a lapsed 3 year warranty? If your car is under 3 years old then its a warranty claim, get it booked into the dealership for a free fix and then find out what that fix was for future reference.

Hi monkeyhanger,
I appreciate the input.
I don't know why, but I thought the 3 year warranty wouldn't apply to electrical items.
I'll give them a call on Monday and report back.
Thanks a ton.

Re: Mk10 Fuse Box Layout
If you're already sure its not the fuse, anything else electrical should be covered. The manual is woefully inadequate to identify fuses that the consumer might need to replace, even the most common ones.Norman1967 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 16, 2021 7:23 pm Hi monkeyhanger,

Re: Mk10 Fuse Box Layout
Hi Norman, I never got to the bottom of my fuse issue. I changed out the fuses but still had the issue with pump. The car was due a service anyway in October so we mentioned it to VW when we handed it over. They ended up keeping it a extra day trying to get to the bottom of the problem, and eventually swapped out the pump. Was under warranty, so no big deal but a bit worrying for a 2 year old car.

Hi Neill,
Thanks pal.
I suspect I'll have the same outcome. I took delivery in July 2019, so should be covered.
Keep safe.
Norman

Re: Mk10 Fuse Box Layout
Good day all,
A quick update...
It was the fuse, but not the one in slot 43. It's the 7.5A fuse in the bottom right of the fuse box.
I'll change it and test when the temperature gets above 0⁰C.
I hope this helps,
Norman

Re: Mk10 Fuse Box Layout
Thanks Norman and everyone else...
I've just replaced that fuse on mine as it failed during last weeks freeze!
Now working fine and a couple of spares in the glovebox...
Very disappointed in the handbook fuse descriptions...
Peter.

Re: Mk10 Fuse Box Layout
Hello fellow Polo users! Spent several hours scouring the internet for information about my fuse box until I stumbled across this forum. I replaced the 7.5 fuse (which had blown) in the bottom right of the most recent picture but the washers still didn't work.
I took out the newly installed fuse to find the brand new one had also blown.
It's still under warranty but are issues like this covered?
What a waste of time the manual and website are for this model.

Re: Mk10 Fuse Box Layout
I would think that if you are a reasonable customer, your VW dealership would fix this FOC and test your washer fluid are suitability in colder temperatures, if its freezing point was acceptable then no comment, if it was just plain water or had very little protection against freezing, then they would warn you about this and advise you to comply with what is required - and charge you next time this happened as too many people seem to be not bothering to make sure that their washer fluid is fit for purpose in colder weather.PoloSEBoro wrote: ↑Mon Mar 01, 2021 5:55 pm Hello fellow Polo users! Re: Mk10 Fuse Box Layout
I'd rather use concentrated screen wash all year round than switch to the watered down stuff in the Summef and get caught out when there's a cold snap - It's not like most people get through gallons of the stuff in a year.

Re: Mk10 Fuse Box Layout
The fuse for the screen washer pump is F58 (7.5A) See layout drawing in the Polo Owners Manual. This information is missing from the Manual! My screen washer pump froze over the recent cold spell here in the UK, and blew the fuse! Just replaced it. Everything is fine now. Fuse is the 2nd one in from the bottom righthand side corner on my attached photo.
