Cut the ends, tap them, bit of pipe, tap the inside of pipe. few nuts and you have adjustable ones. On just take spherical bushings.
I have this weird feeling a cast aluminium control arm from a 8N TT will fit. Adjustable balljoint on those. Mounting "seems" similar. But the lateral width looks much wider. TT is 40mm wider track; can't tell if that's in the control arm or maybe the subframe. Same bushings though. I think it's all sort of mk4-ish under there.
But more often than not the stuff that looks like it would fit are well out of spec.
Been wanting to measure it all on a 8N TT breaking across town. Just haven't had the time.
When pulling away relatively hard with a bit of wheel slip it feels like the left front wheel hops. Kind of deflects back and forth. Very noticeable when steering is turned off centre. Actually never noticed it from the right front wheel.
Apparently this is due to the soft rubber or voided mountings (both suspension and gearbox/engine) causing the wheel to "hop" back and forth in the wheel well probably while it's looking for traction.
Or so the theory goes. Could possibly be ESP too, but sort of does it with the on or off.
I'm hoping more solid mounts resolve this. Or even just fresh mounts.
I've read people had this resolved with a stronger dogbone mount too.
First front-wheel drive where I've actually noticed it. Might even be magnified by my taller suspension.
