Ahhh, that means I'm gonna have a bit longer to plough through GTA. This has been on my wish list for ages! Shame theres no news of a G40 (which mysteriously vanished in GT2). There is one thing I hope they get rid of, as even I can't be bothered with them (yet I can be bothered to stay up all night doing enduro races

), and thats the F1 championships that are 10 lots of 30 lap races. I just can't be bothered with them, hence my GT3 game data remains, and will probabaly always remain at 93%. Looks to me like they've polished off the texture mapping very well, and some of the cars from Prologue and Concept (the interim jobbies before GT4) have made it into the game, as well as the ones we know and love.
On that note, I have to agree with you Mr. GT_Hatch. An '80's Supra was the first car I bought on (the now old skool) GT. Still have it at the top of my garage putting out silly power for what it is.

Im in a similar position - Looked last night and I havent done any of the 10-race events on the pro league. Which leaves me at around 65% having done everything else, which just goes to show what all those tournaments count for! 30 laps is crazy. The longest tournament on any of the other games totalled 50 or so laps - A good hours worth of gaming there. But that last tournament would take all day and probably be really difficult as all the cars are the same.
Dont forget to change your oil folks!

On the oil note... Did you know that if you change the oil on a car straight away after modifying it (before putting any race mileage on the clock), you can gain up to 10bhp? Ofcourse forget to change your oil and you lose power. Just a little secret I remember. I suppose while I'm here...
Also on the arcade mode when you select difficulty, press R1 + L1 together to get 'Professional Mode'.
Still loads for me to sort out in GT3. Trying to find a tyre compound that my 1013bhp Supra will grip the road with is one of them. Traction control most definately needed!

Yeah thats why I said it! You get an extra 5% or something like that. Which is nice.

PS2 and PSP.
No 'cube or xbox release, since it's SONY developed, and they're not about to give away the best console racing game to the competition.

ooooh its gonna be on the PSP?
that's the handheld's first killer app if ever there was one.
that and a re-release of final fantasy 1 thru 7
(1013 hp? I think i might have to give that a whirl! In something long and low like that, i'm thinking.. 250mph/400kmh on the test track? my 680-odd hp Tuscan tank could do 210 and would destroy everything even starting in 3rd gear..

)
MX5 is a good one as well, you can only get it up to 400 and some (so not 100% fantastic for the test track race but can hold its own), but it's lightweight and drifts like a star

If you compelete all the rallys you win the escudo pikes peak. Which you can get a new turbo for to get it up to 1800hp!

Good for 500Km/hr.

that's GT3, right?
the escudo in GT2 was good for about 998hp..... still the most completely mental car in the game. Handled like an angel. If it was real, the engine would have to be rebuilt after every race however!

yeah i breezed through the rally stages on Gt3 with the Escudo...bouncing off all the walls as you do

Yep, GT3, same game as Karl was referring to. There is a car on GT2 with more horses than the escudo. A HKS dragster or two. One was a skyline, cant remember what the other one was. Both with over 1000hp

Those two definately turned up in GT2. Can't say I came across either in GT3 (probabaly have to unlock them somewhere along the line in one of the couple of races on my to do list). Great thing about GT3 was they let you add turbos or NA tuning to some of the cars you win, so thats how you can get mentalist 1800 bhp Escudos, and 700 brake Astra Touring cars. Even road cars can achieve silly amounts of grunt. Most notably the Jap offerings (Skylines, Supras, etc). One of the most fun cars I have with lots of power is an RUF. all that power in a rear engine rear drive car gives nice amount of grip even when you welly it outta corners with the 700+bhp.

........yeah but no but yeah but..... the HKS dragsters (who the hell are HKS?

) were rubbish despite their crazy power figures (which for dragsters, were actually quite weak). Especially the thousand-and-some car - it had rubbish torque and gearing, and quite a heavy body, so outside of a well planned burnout acceleration was rubbish - and of course, being drag racers, neither of them could corner. At all. The steering was authentic, i.e. like the wheel was locked into a 1/4 turn lock-to-lock, not enough to screech the tyres. You couldn't even do an effective wall bounce strategy with it.
The one thing it was good for was setting the GT2 landspeed record. Get into arcade mode, choose the Motor Sports World karting track, drive round it backwards enough times til you hit the 'falling out of reality' bug...... and put the hammer down. With the correct gearing and suspension (!!!) settings, you can just get about 501kmh. Which I think is pretty ace - but you need the equivalent of about 10-15 miles to do it in!

Yeah theyre on GT2. Not seen anything like that on GT3. I said GT2 on my original post anyway about these cars. The other one could well have been a nissan 200 or 300 but I cant remember - hade HUGE rear wheels though (still inside the arches)
