hmmm, chavs are people too..... well thats partially right.... i wouldnt use it regularly to describe anyone who is simply poorer / lives in a worse area / dresses differently or holds "different" values.... more the half-animal little burberry-trackie-and-hoodie-uniform clad bastards who think its perfectly alright to go around abusing their women (and knocking up 14 year olds) or anyone who stands out/thinks differently to them, having zero respect for authority* (rather than just a healthy cynicism but recognition of it's importance), driving drunk, stealing/burning cars, trashing other peoples stuff, sponging off the dole and defrauding the benefits system originally set up to help those genuinely in need (rather than too lazy ass, pig thick and dishonest to get a job) and generally making other folks lives sh*t without a thought in their heads about it.

thats chav... pikey... whatever you want to call it. i beleive the victorians used "urchin" and other similar words...

criminal, human (but only just), waste-of-my-goddamn-oxygen estate scum. yes, that may be pidgeonholing people by where they live, but council accomodation is often what they rely on (pay rent? take out a mortgage, other than with the local loan shark to buy smack? pfft), and i feel sorry for the more ordinary, disadvantaged and out-of-luck hard working folk who have to share their space with such out and out spackers.

whats maybe more dangerous linguistically than using it as an insult (which it should be!) is that its somehow becoming an acceptable description of some vaguely "cool" faddish thing, just as ghetto, bling, wicked etc have become so. my brother enthuses about "chavved up" cars because they look cool, without much comprehension of the actual arse-wipeness of an actual chav ride, and those who drive them. i dont know how it happened, but its just a bit worrying that these sods, who aren't even lovable rogues but are just plain mongy, could become role models through the mass media (let's ignore posh and becks a second?) rather than just because they are leaders of their local violent/p*ssed up youth gang.

* the no respect for authority thing --- seen monday dec 27th at the club i was, where a fake bomb threat was phoned in. the monday night r&b crowd are... shall we say... gangstas. african pikeys who the wiggers seem to take a lot of cues from. no regard for the door staff, the feelings/etc of the bar and other staff, or police, even though in this situation the club was having to be closed & emptied and people stopped from coming in (and getting coats, etc) for their own stupid-ass safety. wanted to just stay inside and keep drinking, chauvinising, demanding the music be put back on (even though the fire alarm was howling), trying to break into the cloakroom or actually get into the club because they "thought" the door staff were simply having a go. Very nearly a riot and took *forever* to clear the place. thoughtless gimps who could have easily burnt to death or been blown up (taking those trying to usher them outside - already under threat of personal violence - along with them). its stereotyping to do so, but you do wonder how a lot of them made their cash.....

PS yes, i know, no capital letters. dont try to come back on me about that, dammit :D
