No, they aren't the best. My mate has two pairs of DCs - one set for wearing and one for driving. If he uses his normal ones for driving he usually ends up pressing all three pedals at once!!

totally right steve, i drive in the oldest pair of Nike's i have usually.

Trainers I'm fine with, ditto normal leather shoes - smart leather shoes with stiff soles throw me, and I've discovered that driving in either sandals or bare feet is a really, really bad idea

Regular trainers or plain work shoes i've found are the best for driving in (though i cant say i paid much attention til now).

Big boots or boot-style trainers are a bit of a liability even with fairly wide-spaced pedals, you keep hitting 2 at once til you learn to be ultra-careful (can be uncomfortable having to do that, too).

Barefoot.... uh... tried that once. The texture, size and resistance of the average car pedal makes it feel right painful. Well, the brake and clutch do anyway, and they're the ones that matter when it comes to safety.

Don't sweat it on the motorway, by the way. Once you get into the swing of it (and it won't take long, usually) it's easier and safer to deal with than town or country lane driving... just a matter of keeping the car positioned between the others and regulating the speed, at the most basic level. No curbs, tricky right turns, pulling out from a standstill, clutch balancing, any of that. You might not have to touch the gearlever or clutch at all for a couple hundred miles, or the brake - if you're lucky.

driving barefoot isnt so bad once the accelerator pedal has warmed up. you certainly know what your cars doing.

i can tell what it's doing perfectly fine through the trainers and my fat ass / chunky fingers... .. i can even feel the ISV open up a crack thru the pedal, when you turn the key with a discharged fuel pump!

im sure i read/heard somewhere that its actually illegal to drive barefooted?? . try driving in etnies low cut 2's, blooy horrible, cant feel **** throguh them and they are uspposed to be light use trianers unlike my full on vans skate shows which i love drviing in!
