In such case you will have the ambient lights lighted whenever you start the car, day and night, bad business. You need 58 signal, not +15 signal.

Hmm .. Backlight lighter lit only when lights are turn on
In Golf 5 it is grey-blue cable so I think in Polo it is similar..

For example:
58d ... interior lights through dimmer.
58 ... license plate light, you need this signal to activate the relay.
