@polocks

How are you getting on with the remap plug in thingy? You've had it a while now, just wondering what your thoughts are, whether it's worthwhile/essential, what kind of extra speed you're getting, how it puts the power down?

so it seems that being early adopter of the gti is going to have been an unwise choice

heard back from vw about the radio and have been told to take it back to the dealers and if they can't fix it then it's tuff s**t and live with it

Funnily enough I was thinking the same recently. When the all new GTI emerges in a few yrs time I'm minded not to rush to order .
I remember once hearing that's it's best to buy an end of line model because most of the problems have been ironed out.
Doesn't bode well then when mine goes back in next week !

Sorry to hear this guys, I've not had the stereo issues to be fair. Got the squeaky brakes and odd interior rattle but nothing major

the problem with the radio is that it's out of the parts bin in the early models and has been made to fit while they finish off the final unit.

what i'd like to do is get a VCDS lead/software and have a look my self but don't know which lead is right as it is probably still a 6r bcm and not a 6c one

Sorry for butting in here not being a GTI owner, but, Dink, are you meaning the VCDS lead there, if so the "normal" VCDS lead works with 6R and 6C, the 6R had the 6Q0 BCM and the 6C have the 6R0 BCM. The only issue with VCDS was if you bought the "cheaper" CAN only interface, which I would not think many people seriously thinking about working with VAG cars would have done.

Is it possible to tell whether one has an "early" Composition Media Unit without needing VCDS? I do know that mine has SW version 0138. There are a number of issues with it but none of them are show stoppers. Still I was hoping I might be able to get a SW upgrade with the car's first service at the end of May next year.

Seem to get a bit of condensation on the inside of the windscreen whenever the car is left for any length of time. Always directly above the vents. Took a picture but not sure how visible it will be.

The fact it's above the vents makes me think there's maybe some residual moisture in the vent system. Had the car a week now but hopefully it will stop soon. Can anyone who's had theirs a bit longer confirm if this happened at first and if so how long it took to stop/if it stopped at all?

yeah i was looking at the cheaper lead that is supposed to be compatible with 2015+ 6c polo but i wouldn't be surprised if i had a 6Q0 BCM and it not work.

you can only upgrade the firmware to try and iron out the faults on the early units and it cannot be replaced with an MIB II unit

Mine started to improve after about 4 weeks, though I still find it worse than my previous car, but 30 seconds of air con soon fixes it.

Moisture/condensation forming on windscreens, seems to be an issue with the Fabia Mk3 gang as well! My experience of using my daughter's late 2009 Ibiza SC is exactly the same, takes a lot of clearing and keeping clear - so what is the root cause of this, is it just down to what ever ends up sticking to the windscreen?

Should not be happening like that, makes driving the car very dangerous in wet/cold conditions as you clear it and it mists up again, I never ever had that on a car that was "water tight".

Could it be that some plastics are out gassing and coating the inside of the windscreen combined with moisture being allowed to stay in the car?

Eventually I resorted to leaving the air flow off until the engine had warmed up a bit, and trying not to breathe - not easy holding your breathe for 15 minutes!!!

Is 0139 the most recent available SW for the original MIB unit? And do you know if it actually fixes any of the bugs in the 0138 version? I've had :-

The speaker pop thing when starting up and also a brief imbalance of volume. But only for a few seconds and it doesn't always happen by any means.

Occasionally losing its position on start up so reverting to first folder first track on USB or SD Card media. Has not happened for some time though.

Once losing the ability to jump to next or prior track - both using touch screen and steering wheel buttons - needed a reboot. Has never recurred (yet)

I've found it only loses its position on SD card if your viewing in database mode, normal folders view is fine

yeah it seems that 0139 is the latest firmware for it.

i get the speaker pop fairly regular and that normally starts the speaker fade.

ive had it crash and reboot, do a full boot on start up, forget where it is on sd card and then disable shuffle

i think i could get a better unit for 100 quid from helfrauds that the unit i have
