The usual modus operandi is for them to break into your home and ransack the house until they find the keys, or if the house is occupied threaten the occupants with violence so they can get the keys, and if you have a wife and kids in the home do you really want them beating up your family or ransacking you home just so they don’t get your car? Then ensure you have sufficient GAP insurance to cover the financial loss should it get stolen.
I’m not sure if OBDEleven can disable the keyless entry, you may need to get someone with VCDC/VAGcom to do it

Someone mentioned something about pushing the door handle in on the GTI which stops the car 'listening' for the key. This is the route I'll be taking, it should stop the keyless entry on the doors. Keyless wasn’t available on my 2016 GTI but I check the door handle after I’ve locked the car to make sure it’s locked; locking the GTI+ using the key fob to deactivate keyless locking and then touching the sensor on the door handle doesn’t take any more effort.gnome wrote: Wed Mar 20, 2019 1:19 pmThis is the route I'll be taking, it should stop the keyless entry on the doors. I live alone and they could come and sneak into my bedroom..im a very light sleeper. I would never make it easy for them. Let em try taking my keys and they get there head polished with the baseball bat I sleep with. This is why I have keys in my bedroom. It be rude not to come say hello before you try steal my car.

What if the guy is harder/better at fighting than you?
What if you kill him, the police decide it was completely unreasonable force, you do time and you don't get to drive the car you've over-protected?

What is reasonable force? So the guy is coming at you with a knife with intent to stab you with it and quite possibly kill you in doing so. So I hit him with my baseball bat...its a natural and reasonable reaction I would have thought for anyone who feels their life threatened.
Besides....I waited a long time for this car and not going to roll over and just throw them the keys. Ok id take a different approach if I had family to think about. Anyway that's the last I will say on the matter. I'm not getting into a debate here about "A man and his castle and how he would protect it"
