Evening DelB!

If you'r ipod classic has an usb lead you can just plug it straight into the usb port which is by the 12v power socket and should read it no problem... Hope you like your car!

This week I had the latest software update at the dealer married to a replacement unit fitted by vw a few weeks ago. Result = same issues.
I'm bored by it all and won't bother going back until I hear they have a clue how to fix it.
(Let's face it they didn't with the 6R engine problems many of us endured!)

i emailed them and i think i hit the nail on the head and they didn't like it

there is some sort of design flaw that doesn't mute/ground the amp input when it changes sources so that is the pop that is heard then the speaker fade is the protection in the amp kicking in and shutting down the amp then realising there isn't a fault and fading them back up.

so i personally don't think any amount of firmware upgrades will fix it as shown by you having a new unit and still have the faults.

i've been made redundant so i can see me drinking a lot of tea in my local vw dealer over the next couple of weeks

iPod connected no problem. I reckon it sounds better through the system than playing music off the phone via Bluetooth. :)

I've thought that too, plus album art shows on screen without having to mess around with pixel size.
Just wish the ipod would connect in the glove box like on the previous GTI.

Agreed. It's a bit too visible even in the forward cubby-hole ahead of the USB port.

Yeah I've always messed about with amplifiers so sort of know how they work.

Also looking at peoples vcds auto scan the radio is quite "intelligent"

Hi all – I am a new member, and have been looking for a decent forum and hopefully have found it. I’ve been reading plenty of posts around these boards and everyone seems like a good bunch of car-nuts 

I’ve been planning my trade-in and saving a cash deposit for a good while, and finally ordered last month with a delivery date of February. I’m quite happy to wait until then, get the worst of a salt-spattered dark wet winter out of the way, and ride into the bright spring sunshine in a 16 plate motor on 1 March. At least that’s the plan. Dealer have said they’re happy to let me collect the car on March 1st to get the new reg, even if it arrives much earlier.

Going down the lease route for the first time has been the most painless car-buying experience of my life. Deposit only payable once the car arrives (just paid the handling fee so far), and no hard sell from the dealer of Lifeshine rubbish, extended warranty, and overpriced GAP insurance. I hate haggling with dealers, so this was a real godsend. I’ve posted in another thread of my dealer, but the basic price of a 3 door manual GTI was £193 pcm on a 3 year deal with £1158 down. Couldn’t resist.

My previous car was a Fabia Mk2 vRS, so I’m used to the previous GTI 1.4 dsg twincharge drivetrain, but got sick of the oil-usage amongst other things so swapped it for a Citigo Sport halfway through the payment term. The Citigo is a great handling little drive and looks smart, but I am looking forward to getting back into something with over triple the Citigo’s puny 60bhp and actually be able to overtake things inside of an hour.

After having the best part of a year to umm and ahhh over specs and options, I’ve ordered the following:

3 door manual
Pure white
Parking pack (mainly to get cruise control, but the extra £25 for the rear camera seems like a no-brainer)
Sport pack

I got my previous vRS on a VAT-free deal and went a bit tick happy on the options list on that car, so learnt my lesson this time round. I ended up using the heated seats on the vRS about 3 times in 2 years (and even then once just to have a laugh and make the mother in law think she’d wet herself lol). The only serious temptation was climate control just to make the centre console look arguably more premium, but the standard 3-dial manual a/c controls are the same as the Citigo (or indeed most VAG stuff I suppose) and I know exactly the setting I need in any situation without having to even look what my hands are doing.

So now I’m just waiting and getting excited like a little kid, looking at the pictures of other lucky owners on these boards whilst thinking up ingenious ways of fooling the missus into justifying the step-down from the Citigo’s 55mpg+ economy. The phrase “you only live once” doesn’t usually wash with her…

5a: in transit:left the factory - on it's way to Emden.

5b: in transit:shipping - at Emden waiting a boat. Normally received 48 hours after 5a.

5c: in transit:nearly here - on boat to either Grimsby, Tyne or Sheerness depending on dealer location. At this stage VW can give you the name of the boat, but it sometimes skips this stage. Now states 10 days to dealer.
But by the sounds of it on here most peoples have gone from In Transit, Left the Factory straight to in the UK.

How do you get this detailed tracking information? The VW website tracker is not this detailed

This was just what someone else said on another forum, not from the VW tracker
